Thousands of students assembled near the Jamia University gate number 1 from where they were supposed to begin their march.

Police personnel tried to push the students back inside the university. When agitating students didn’t stop, the police fired several rounds of tear-gas and lathi-charged the students. The students also resorted to stone-pelting. Later, police detained over 50 students and took them to the Badarpur Police station.
