Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin the BJP’s election campaign for the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls today by addressing a mega rally at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital. Elaborate security arrangements have been made and special traffic arrangements have been made for the Prime Minister’s rally, in light of violence in Daryaganj on Friday during a protest against the Citizenship law. 20 companies of security forces have been deployed, with each company having 70-80 personnel.<\/p>\n

BJP leader Vijay Goel<\/em> claimed that more than two lakh people are expected to attend it. The rally is organized by the Delhi unit of BJP to thank the Prime Minister for giving “ownership rights” to Delhi residents living in unauthorized colonies.<\/p>\n

2:50 pm:<\/strong> PM Modi while reassuring that no one’s citizenship is threatened asks people in the rally, “Who understands the pain of refugees better than people of Delhi? Citizenship Act, in fact, provides citizenship to the religiously persecuted minorities from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.”<\/p>\n

2:45 pm:<\/strong> Modi quotes former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s remarks in support of giving citizenship to persecuted minorities from Bangladesh.<\/p>\n

2:37 pm<\/strong>: Prime Minister Modi: Citizenship Act has a cut-off date. No new refugee can avail its benefit. CAA and NRC have nothing to do with Indian Muslims.<\/p>\n

2:28 pm:<\/strong> “If you want to hate Modi, hate him, but don’t hate India. Burn my effigies, but don’t burn a poor man’s auto-rickshaw,” said PM.<\/p>\n

2:30 pm<\/strong>: “Some educated ‘urban naxals’ are spreading the rumours that Muslims will be sent to detention centres. This a pure lie to stoke sentiments and create paranoia among the minority communities,” said PM.<\/p>\n

2:25 pm:<\/strong> PM asked the people present at the rally to “show some respect to the Parliament which has passed the Citizenship Act.”<\/p>\n

2:20 pm:<\/strong> Breaking the silence on the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act, the PM said some political parties are spreading all kinds of rumours to stoke violence against citizenship law<\/span><\/p>\n

2:10 pm<\/strong>: “Hindu, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians all were benefitted, everyone who lives in the city here was benefitted. We are government committed to the people, we are dedicated to the mantra of Sabka <\/em>Sath, Sabka Vikas, <\/em>said PM on giving land ownership rights to unauthorized colonies.<\/span><\/p>\n

1:55 pm<\/strong>: Even after several decades after Independence, a large number of Delhites living in unauthorized colonies had to face fear, uncertainty and false electoral promises and bear the brunt of sealing and bulldozer.<\/p>\n
