A far-right group, Hindu Raksha Dal, has taken responsibility of the brutal attack on students and faculty members of the prestigious Jawaharlal Nahru University (JNU) on Sunday evening, and justified the violence saying “anti-national activities won’t be tolerated”.<\/p>\n
Sources close to the government say that the Delhi police are investigating the claim made by Hindu Raksha Dal chief Pinky Chaudhary.<\/p>\n
Chaudhary, in a widely shared video, claimed that the university is a “hotbed of anti-national activities”.<\/p>\n
“They (the attackers) were our workers,\u201d he said in the two-minute video.<\/p>\n
\u201cDesh virodhi gatividhiyan agar koi bhi karega toh uske aise hi bartaav kiya jayega jaisa ki kal JNU me kiya gaya hai, hum iski poori zimmedari lete hain,\u201d said Pinki Chaudhary.<\/p>\n
He further claimed, \u201cJNU is a hub of communist activity, he can\u2019t allow this to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Hindu Raksha Dal had earlier attacked the office of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi\u2019s Koshambi area in 2014.<\/p>\n
More than 30 students and teachers were beaten up by masked men and women who carried iron rods, sticks and hammers and barged into the 1,100-acre campus through different entries.<\/p>\n
JNUSU President Aishe Ghosh, who was hit in the head, along with others were rushed to the AIIMS.<\/p>\n
The Delhi Police have filed a FIR against 30-40 \u201cunidentified miscreants\u201d , but no one has been named in the FIR.<\/p>\n
