Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal taking a jibe at the centre alleged that Delhi Police is given instructions to “just stand and not take any action”. Kejriwal said on Thursday that The Delhi Police is very much capable of maintaining law but is not doing on centre\u2019s orders, in reference to the recent spate of violence in university campuses.<\/p>\n
He added that the Delhi Police is not at fault for not stopping the violence at the universities because they are bound to follow orders. “If Delhi Police gets order from above that you do not have to do anything to maintain law and order, what can Delhi Police do then,” he told reporters.<\/p>\n
“When we came to power, then hospitals and schools were in bad condition. We did not change the doctors or teachers as they were very capable. Political will is needed. (When) the order from above comes that you do not have to stop the violence, then they are forced to follow orders,” said Kejriwal while speaking to reporters at a press conference. The press conference was organised to depict a comparison of Kejriwal government\u2019s model along with that of the MCD\u2019s, which are ruled by the BJP.<\/p>\n
On Sunday evening, over 40 students and teachers, including Jawaharlal Nehru University Students\u2019 Union president Aishe Ghosh were attacked by masked miscreants who entered the university campus, armed with iron rods, sledgehammers and stones. The injured were later admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences.<\/p>\n
The Jamia Millia Islamia University had turned into a battlefield last month after police entered the campus and allegedly beat up students\u2019 and also vandalised the library, during anti-CAA agitations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
