The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) today called for a two-day nationwide bank strike on January 31 and February 1 as wage revision talks with the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) remained unsuccessful.<\/p>\n
This is the second bank strike this month, after the first one was observed along with Bharat Bandh on January 8.<\/p>\n
“From April 1, we have decided to go on an indefinite strike,” UFBU state convenor Siddartha Khan was quoted by PTI.<\/p>\n
A delegation representing the UFBU had demanded a 15% wage hike, which was brought down to 12.25 % by IBA. UFBU\u2018s\u00a0 other demands included a merger of special allowance with basic pay and a uniform 5-day work week.<\/p>\n
It is to be noted that the timing of the nationwide bank strike will coincides with Budget day. The Economic Survey will be presented on January 31 while on February 1 Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present her second Budget.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
