{"id":78738,"date":"2020-01-22T18:05:20","date_gmt":"2020-01-22T12:35:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/?p=78738"},"modified":"2020-09-24T11:35:37","modified_gmt":"2020-09-24T06:05:37","slug":"thailand-masters-saina-nehwal-srikanth-knocked-out-in-first-round","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/sports-news\/thailand-masters-saina-nehwal-srikanth-knocked-out-in-first-round\/","title":{"rendered":"Thailand Masters: Saina Nehwal, Kidambi Srikanth knocked out in first round"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Indian badminton ace Saina Nehwal was knocked out of in the first round of Thailand Masters after losing to Denmark&#8217;s Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt in Bangkok.<\/p>\n<p>Nehwal continued her poor run this year, losing out to a weaker opponent as she suffered a 13-21, 21-17, 15-21 loss.<\/p>\n<p>Nehwal had never lost to the Danish opponent in their previous four meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the day, shuttler Kidambi Srikanth also suffered an early exit from the Super 300 tournament after losing to Indonesia&#8217;s Shesar Hiren Rhustavito 21-12, 14-21, 11-21 in men&#8217;s singles.<\/p>\n<p>After losing the first game, Saina came back to win the second game, but Kjaersfeldt kept her calm as she defeated Saina in the third game.<\/p>\n<p>Kidambi, the fifth-seeded player, lost in 48 minutes to make <a href=\"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/kidambi-srikanth-sourabh-verma-knocked-out-of-indonesia-masters\/\">his third straight first-round<\/a> exit of the year.<\/p>\n<p>The losses will affect Nehwal and Srikanth&#8217;s chances to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics as they will now drop in the BWF ranking.
