World Archery conditionally lifted the suspension of the Archery Association of India (AAI) following elections that were held in New Delhi on January 18.<\/p>\n
The AAI was suspended since August 5, 2019 and the Indian archers were only allowed to compete under a neutral flag at events that directly affected their qualification chances for the Olympics.<\/p>\n
With the suspension being uplifted, archers can now compete in World Archery events under the Indian flag.<\/p>\n
AAI has been instructed to update its constitution to clarify athlete membership, develop a strategic plan and resolve other governance issues by the World Archery body.<\/p>\n
A progress report is required every three months.<\/p>\n
India currently has three men\u2019s and one women\u2019s quota place at Tokyo 2020.<\/p>\n
World Archery secretary general Tom Dielen said: \u201cWe hope this is the start of a well-governed association in India and will help, where necessary, to develop the strategy that will accomplish this.\u201d<\/p>\n
