The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended batsman Umar Akmal with immediate effect, pending an anti-corruption investigation against the right-hander.<\/p>\n
“The Pakistan Cricket Board today suspended Umar Akmal with immediate effect…he cannot take part in any cricket-related activity pending the investigation being carried out by PCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit,” said the PCB statement.<\/p>\n
“As this is an ongoing investigation, the PCB will not make any further comments,” it added.<\/p>\n
The PCB did not reveal the breach of law committed by Akmal.<\/p>\n
Akmal’s Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Quetta Gladiators are allowed to get his replacement ahead of the PSL 2020 edition which is beginning on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The Gladiators, who are the defending champion, will take on two-time former champions Islamabad United in the opening match.<\/p>\n
The 29-year-old, who last played for Pakistan in October 2019, has played 16 Tests, 121 ODIs and 84 T20Is.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
