Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray who on a visit to Ayodhya today announced that his government will sanction Rs 1 crore to help in the construction of a temple to Lord Ram in Ayodhya.<\/p>\n
The Shiv Sena chief is visiting the city to mark 100 days of his newly-formed government in Maharashtra. A former ally of the NDA government, Shiv Sena decided to ally with Congress and Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) for 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections. Sena, emerged as the second largest party with 56 assembly seats.<\/p>\n
Mr Thackeray had earlier visited Ayodhya in 2018 when his party was part of a coalition government with the BJP in Maharashtra.<\/p>\n
“The last time I was here, I came when things about the Ram temple were in a flux. I came here in November 2018. In November 2019, the (Supreme) Court gave a historic decision and for me, I became the Chief Minister… I have come here for a third time and whenever I come here it brings good news to me,” Mr Thackeray said.<\/p>\n
Ahead of his trip, a special train carrying members of his party Shiv Sena departed for the temple town in Uttar Pradesh from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) in Mumbai on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Several party MLAs, corporators and Shiv Sainiks have also joined Thackeray for his visit.<\/p>\n
Thackeray, who was supposed to attend an \u201caarti\u201d on the banks of the Saryu river cancelled his visit due to the on-going coronavirus outbreak.<\/p>\n
In a landmark verdict the Supreme Court ordered the government to set up a trust to oversee the building of a Ram temple at Ayodhya, stating that the ownership of the disputed land claimed by both Hindus and Muslims was entirely with Ram Lalla or infant Lord Ram<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
