Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora announced the election dates today. The model code of conduct for the elections in Bihar also comes into force from today. The term of the current assembly comes to an end on November 29. Addressing a press conference, Arora said the Bihar elections will perhaps be the largest election anywhere in the world during the Covid-19 pandemic. He listed precautionary measures taken by the poll panel and authorities. Among the precautionary steps taken, Arora said booths will be open for an extra hour and will now be open from 7 am to 6 pm, instead of the usual 5 pm due to Covid-19. The extension will not apply for booths in areas affected by Maoist extremism, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
