After Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated 44 new bridges in the northern, western and north-eastern borders, China said on Tuesday that it does not recognise the Ladakh Union Territory. Beijing has opposed infrastructure building in the region and said the territory was illegally set up by India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When asked to react on the bridges inaugurated by India including eight in Arunachal Pradesh and eight in Ladakh, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said the root cause of tensions between two sides is ramping up border infrastructure development and stepping up military deployment. No country should take provocative action that might escalate tensions, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Chinese spokesperson said that first she wants to make it clear that China does not recognise the Ladakh Union Territory illegally set up by India and Arunachal Pradesh. Beijing stands against the development of infrastructure facilities aimed at military contention along the border area, she added. China wants India to earnestly refrain from taking actions that might escalate tensions between the two countries and take concrete measures to safeguard peace and tranquility in the border region, she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Military talks between the two countries were held on Monday for the seventh time after several border confrontations. News of building bridges along the border emerged when senior military officials from India and China talked about calming the situation down in the border region. The talks lasted for more than 11 hours and ended around 11.30 pm, reports said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
