The Madhya Pradesh government has enforced a stringent National Security Act against three bootleggers arrested for selling illicit liquor. Earlier this week, 14 people were killed in Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh due drinking illicit liquor, most of them were beggars. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A series of suspension and transferred has been made by the government of Madhya Pradesh in relation to the case. 10 people have been arrested so far in the case and four police officers suspended. Shivraj singh government of Madhya Pradesh transferred two of their state officials including Superintendent (SP), Additional Superintendent (ASP) of Ujjain while another SP, Rajnish Kashyap has also been suspended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two police constables, a doctor and a medical store employee have been arrested for helping bootleggers in making spurious liquor. Ujjain\u2019s deputy excise commissioner, KC Agnihotri, and deputy municipal commissioner, Subodh Jain, were transferred and suspended, respectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Subodh Jain was reportedly close to two of the smugglers named as Sikandar and Gabbar, who were also contract workers at the Ujjain Municipal Company. Housing properties related to them were also demolished due to illegal possession. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the incident on Thursday, Ujjain collector Ashish Singh had said that this is the warning of a crackdown for those who sell poisonous alcohol. The NSA will be used against such people. He assured that everyone involved in the racketeering will be brought to justice. The investigation into the exact nature of the illegal alcohol, the production and consumption areas of the liquor, and its distribution is still going on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Declaring 11 deaths from spurious liquor, Ujjain Chief Medical and Health Officer Mahaveer Khandelwal on Thursday said eleven people were brought to a local hospital in a critical condition. None of them were survived for more than 15 minutes. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan directed an investigation in to the matter and said People who sell toxic substances are enemies of the society and should be severely punished. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
