Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra posted a picture with brother and former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Monday, which also happens to be Siblings Day.

In the picture she shared on Instagram, the Gandhi siblings can be seen walking up a snow-covered footpath with Rahul resting his hands on Priyanka’s shoulder. The photo is possibly from the end of the Bharat Jodo Yatra when the campaign wound up in Srinagar in early 2023.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra spoke about the courage her brother Rahul Gandhi has to speak truth to power despite the enormous state apparatus used to silence him.

She dedicated the post to Rahul Gandhi that he has the courage to stand for goodness and compassion despite all the filth thrown at him. She said Rahul faces injustice with dignity and would not back down for speaking truth, no matter how many desert him or how many backstab him or no matter how much power is used to silence him.

Saif ali khan stabbing case

New details have emerged from the 1,600-page chargesheet filed by Mumbai’s Bandra Police in connection with the January 16 knife attack on actor Saif Ali Khan, revealing a harrowing timeline involving his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan, their children, and domestic staff.

According to Kareena’s statement, the incident occurred around 2 am when her younger son Jehangir’s nanny, Junu, ran into the room screaming about a man in Jeh’s room with a knife, demanding money.

Saif and Kareena rushed to the scene. Saif confronted the intruder — later identified as Shariful Islam, a Bangladeshi national — and tried to overpower him. The actor was then stabbed in the neck, back, and hands. Their other nanny, Geeta, was also injured while attempting to help.

Kareena told police she immediately instructed the staff to evacuate the children. Along with her sons Jeh and Taimur and the nanny, she moved to another floor in their apartment complex in Bandra’s Satguru Sharan building.

Saif, bleeding heavily, joined them minutes later. Kareena urged him to focus on getting medical help, and their staff hailed an autorickshaw to transport him and Taimur to Lilavati Hospital. Saif was operated on to remove a knife fragment lodged near his spine, and discharged five days later.

Kareena also contacted her sister Karisma Kapoor and manager Poonam Damania, whose husband Tejas later informed the police.

Forensic evidence confirms weapon match

Police told the court that three matching knife fragments — including one removed from Saif’s body confirmed the weapon used in the attack. The chargesheet also includes forensic evidence, including fingerprints from the crime scene that match the accused.

Police have opposed bail for Shariful Islam, citing strong forensic links and the violent nature of the attack.

MK Stalin slams BJP, AIADMK over their alliance for 2026 Tamil Nadu elections

“This is not Manipur—this is Tamil Nadu. Shah failed to restore peace in a state where over 250 lives were lost in 18 months, yet he tries to disturb peace here with baseless claims.”

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president MK Stalin on Saturday launched a blistering attack on the newly announced alliance between the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the BJP for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

Labeling the tie-up as driven by a “hunger for power” and a betrayal of state interests, Stalin predicted its failure, asserting that Tamil Nadu’s people would reject it decisively.

Reacting to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s announcement of the coalition, Stalin accused the AIADMK of hypocrisy in claiming to oppose policies like the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), Hindi imposition, the three-language policy, the Waqf (Amendment) Act, and potential reductions in Tamil Nadu’s representation during constituency delimitation.

“Are these issues part of their Common Minimum Programme?” he questioned, noting that Shah remained silent on these concerns during the press conference. Instead, Stalin alleged, Shah used the platform solely to attack the DMK, its government, and himself, while preventing AIADMK leaders from speaking.

“This AIADMK-BJP alliance is doomed to fail,” Stalin said. “Tamil Nadu’s people have repeatedly defeated this coalition in the past, and now Shah has revived the same failed partnership without stating its ideological foundation.” He criticised the vague promise of a Common Minimum Programme, arguing it lacked substance and conviction.

Stalin contrasted the DMK’s legacy with the alliance’s motives. “The DMK is a movement dedicated to protecting state rights, linguistic pride, and Tamil culture. In contrast, the AIADMK-BJP coalition is driven by a thirst for power, standing against these very ideals,” he said.

He accused former AIADMK leader Edappadi Palaniswami of having “mortgaged Tamil Nadu’s dignity to Delhi” during his tenure, bringing ruin to the state in pursuit of power.

Taking a swipe at Shah’s remarks on corruption, Stalin pointed to the AIADMK’s tainted history. “When Shah talks of corruption while allying with AIADMK, the people of Tamil Nadu must be laughing,” he said, recalling that former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa stepped down twice due to corruption charges and was sentenced to four years in prison in a disproportionate assets case.

He also highlighted that AIADMK functionaries and their relatives faced central agency raids, suggesting the alliance was a “compromise” born out of fear to escape scrutiny. “The people know corruption is the very foundation of this AIADMK-BJP tie-up,” Stalin charged, warning that those who “pawned AIADMK out of fear are now ready to mortgage all of Tamil Nadu.”

Stalin further alleged that the BJP has a deliberate agenda to undermine Tamil identity through Hindi imposition, hinder Tamil progress via conspiracies, and erode state rights through delimitation.

He described the AIADMK as an “old bonded slave camp,” coerced by BJP threats to execute these plans. “Whether the BJP comes alone or with allies, Tamil Nadu’s people will deliver a fitting lesson to this traitorous alliance that kneels before Delhi without self-respect,” he vowed.

Addressing Shah’s claim that opposing NEET was a diversion, Stalin noted the minister’s failure to clarify his stance when pressed by journalists. “If Shah believes NEET is right, he should defend it openly instead of deflecting,” he said.

Stalin also rebutted Shah’s accusation of deteriorating law and order in Tamil Nadu, stating, “This is not Manipur—this is Tamil Nadu. Shah failed to restore peace in a state where over 250 lives were lost in 18 months, yet he tries to disturb peace here with baseless claims.” He cited central government statistics to affirm Tamil Nadu’s progress, crediting its robust law and order.

Amid violent protests in parts of West Bengal over the Waqf (Amendment) Act, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday declared that her government will not implement the law in the state. She appealed to people across communities to maintain peace and avoid falling into political traps aimed at inciting communal unrest.

“The law was made by the central government, not by us,” Banerjee said in a statement posted on social media platform X. “We have made it clear—we do not support this law, and it will not be enforced in West Bengal.”

She added that those seeking answers about the Waqf Act should direct their questions to the Centre.

Violence erupts across multiple districts

On Friday, protests against the Waqf Act turned violent in Malda, Murshidabad, South 24 Parganas, and Hooghly. Police vans and several vehicles were set on fire, stones were pelted at security personnel, and roads were blocked in multiple locations.

The Chief Minister warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone involved in inciting violence. “We do not condone any violent activity,” she said.

Banerjee issued a firm appeal to all religions to uphold peace and restraint. “Do not engage in irreligious behaviour in the name of religion. Every human life is precious,” she said, condemning attempts to misuse religion for political gain.

She also emphasized her view that religion should stand for “humanity, goodwill, civilisation, and harmony.”
