With his on-screen presence, acting prowess, dialogues, and comic timings, Rawal gives us reason to laugh while watching his films. Whether it’s a comedy role or a supporting role, he molds the character in such a way that the audience starts connecting to his character in a true sense.

The Padma Shri winner has appeared in over 240 films and is the recipient of several accolades. Drinking up the whole character and absorbing it is what Paresh Rawal is.

As Paresh Rawal turns a year older, here are the top 5 iconic characters of Paresh Rawal that you wouldn’t want to miss.

  1. Dr Ghungroo- Welcome

One of Paresh Rawal’s best performances was in the ‘Welcome’ franchise, in which he played Akshay Kumar’s crazy mama, who causes the entire family to suffer. Rawal’s excellent performance in the film, as well as his comedic timing with Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor, make it a must-see!

  1. Baburao Ganpatrai Apte aka Babu Bhaiya- Hera Pheri, Phir Hera Pheri

The funniest character one could possibly think of is from the epic comedy series Hera Pheri and Phir Hera Pheri. Baburao Ganpatrai Apte, also known as Babu Bhaiya, is funny even without trying. The dialogues and clothes are one thing, but soaking up and digesting the entire persona is a rare trait. Paresh Rawal, on the other hand, effortlessly integrates the entire character into himself.

  1. Mambo- Garam Masala

The domestic helper, will clean the house, cook, and wash clothes, but will require every available machine to do the task because he lacks the necessary skills. Paresh Rawal excels once again as the most annoying person imaginable.

  1. Lambodar Chacha- Athithi Tum Kab Jaoge

This film is underrated. Paresh Rawal’s character will hook you to watch this movie.  Paresh Rawal is a guest from the village who plans to stay with the couple. His habits will, however, be incompatible with your modern family and cultural conventions. He is, however, the elder of the house that many families wish for, a grandfather to a grandson who has never known what it’s like to have one.

  1. Kanjibhai- OMG Oh My God!

OMG is Paresh Rawal’s first solo film.  Also, Akshay Kumar appears in the film in a supporting role. The film is about blind faith and how religion is today treated as a business. An ordinary shopkeeper, an atheist who runs the Puja samagri shop, is forced to become an advocate in order to defend himself in court against none other than God. By the end of the film, the audience has learned quite a lot.
