AR Rahman’s Concert: Fans in Chennai complain of poor management, stampede situation, organisers issues apology

Music maestro AR Rahman’s mega concert in Chennai on Sunday evening grabbed headlines for all wrong reasons. According to reports, the concert was attended by more than 50,000 fans, who complained of poor management at the venue and also claimed that there was a stampede-like situation, leading to women being harassed and kids being injured. 

The concert titled Marakuma Nenjam was conducted at Adityaram Palace in Chennai’s Paniyur. Reports stated that people gathered at the venue to attend the concert could not even get in despite paying for the tickets. The concert was scheduled to take place on August 12, but it was cancelled owing to excessive rain in the area. Later, it was rescheduled to take place on September 10. 

The Organisers of the event, ACTC Events, were heavily criticized for overselling the tickets. After photos and videos from the event went viral across the social media platforms, the organisers of the event took to X, formerly Twitter and issued an unconditional apology. The photos and video showed the venue to be jam packed with thousands of people. In addition, children can be seen crying and looking for their relatives after getting separated from them. 

The event organisers tweeted that they are grateful to Chennai and AR Rahman and added that the incredible response and overwhelming crowd made the show a massive success. It expressed sincere apologies to those who couldn’t attend to overcrowding and took full responsibility and accountability of the situation. They concluded that they were with the people who faced troubles. On the other hand, Oscar-winning music maestro AR Rahman is yet to issue an official statement on the same.

Meanwhile, Adityaram’s head, who addressed the crowd at the end of the concert and from the team of singers, requested the event managers to organise the concert properly next time. Multiple fans also took to their social media accounts and asked the singer to issue an apology statement regarding the poor management.

Bollywood celebrities Akshay Kumar, Farhan Akhtar, Rajkummar Rao, Jahnvi Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Zoya Akhtar, Sanya Malhotra, Anita Raj and Kunal Kohli stepped out early Monday morning to vote in the Lok Sabha elections in Mumbai. Elections began at 7 am in 13 Lok Sabha constituencies of Maharashtra, including six in Mumbai.

Akshay Kumar said after casting his vote at a polling station in Juhu that he wanted his India to be developed and strong and he kept these things in his mind when he went to cast his vote. He added that all Indians should think what is right for them and vote.

Actor filmmaker Farhan Akthar while standing in the queue at a polling booth in Bandra West to cast his vote said that his vote is for good governance, the government that looks after all the people, gives us a better city. The actor-filmmaker urged people, especially youngsters, to come out and vote.  He said he had just heard from somebody that young people are complaining that it’s too hot but its not hot at all, asked them to step out and vote.

Taarak Mehta ka Oolta Chashma actor Gurucharan Singh returns home after 25 days

During his religious journey, Gurucharan Singh visited Gurudwaras in many cities like Ludhiana and Amritsar. The police said afterwards, he decided to return home.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Gurucharan Singh returned home on 17 May after going missing on April 22. The Delhi Police has recorded his statement in the court and said Singh had gone away from home on a spiritual journey.

The Delhi Police started searching for the TV actor on April 22. The 51-year-old actor had to board a flight from Delhi to Mumbai on April 22 evening but he never reached his destination. His father, who lives in Palam, informed the local police after his phone was found not reachable. About 12 nos police teams, including the Crime Branch and Special Cell, were working to locate Gurucharan Singh.

The police had closely monitored his financial transactions from his bank accounts and credit cards. According to reports, the last transaction was of Rs 14,000, which he withdrew from one of his bank accounts on the day he went missing.

CCTV footage recorded from the day Gurucharan Singh disappeared showed him walking with a bag on his back. The police also visited some states like Haryana, Punjab, and Uttarakhand to get any leads in connection with the case. A few days earlier a police officer told the media that Gurucharan Singh had once shown his interest in going to the Himalayas for meditation. During the investigation it was revealed that Singh was in financial trouble with many loans and dues.

His father, Hargit Singh, filed a missing complaint on April 26, which led to an FIR under Section 365 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). His father said that he did not have any idea about his son’s financial troubles. He said Gurucharan Singh never shared anything with him. As a result Hargit Singh was not aware of this. During his religious journey, Gurucharan Singh visited Gurudwaras in many cities like Ludhiana and Amritsar. The police said afterwards, he decided to return home.
