Republic Day is celebrated every year on 26th January 2022. It is the day when India’s constitution came into force after a long struggle for independence from British colonial rule. The historic birth of the Indian Republic was marked with a 21-gun salute and the unfurling of the Indian National Flag by Dr Rajendra Prasad. On this day, ceremonial parades are held on the Rajpath as a homage to India, its diversity and rich cultural legacy.

The handwritten copies of the Constitution were signed by the members of the constituent assembly in January 1950. After two days, on 26th January 1950, it was announced as Republic Day. Dr B.R.Ambedkar was appointed as the chairperson for this committee. It took the constituent assembly two years, eleven months, and eighteen days to form the Constitution.
