Aam Aadmi Party has called for India’s opening T20 World Cup match against Pakistan to be cancelled in light of the recent killing of civilians by terrorists in Kashmir.

India’s opening encounter against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup is scheduled for October 24 in UAE.

Targeting the BJP government at a press conference on Tuesday, the AAP Kalkaji MLA Atishi said that she wanted to know Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stand on India-Pakistan match in the T20 World Cup.

Eleven civilians have been killed in attacks in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir this month, including a businessman, two teachers and several migrants in the valley.

Speaking at a press conference, Atishi said she is confident that even the PM will agree with the stand that cricket matches against Pakistan should not be played. When he was in the Opposition, he used to ask the ruling party why matches were being played when state-sponsored terrorism was being perpetrated by Pakistan in India, she said.

She said she was sure other BJP leaders would also agree that the match should not happen. The people have seen the increasing terrorist attacks on Indian soil and can’t just sit and watch. She is interested in knowing the PM’s stand on the upcoming India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match. Is it ok to play matches when there are attacks on Indian soil? Atishi asked.

In other India News, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the government is towards building a network of over 200 airports, helicopters and water domes in the nation in the upcoming 3-4 years. PM Modi said this during the inauguration ceremony of Kushinagar International Airport in Uttar Pradesh.
