Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel on Friday broke his silence over the club’ striker Romelu Lukaku’s statement of not being happy at Chelsea and said that he is surprised by Lukaku’s comments that he never saw him unhappy.

Tuchel said that if a player like Lukaku speaks like that he should have known the gravity and value of what he speaks. The German manager also said that the club will talk with Lukaku openly behind closed doors. ‘We are here and can take the time to try to understand what is going on with Romelu, it does not reflect the daily attitude,’ added Thomas Tuchel.

Earlier on Thursday, Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku openly criticized the situation at the London based club and said that it was a mistake coming back to Chelsea. The Belgian striker also apologised to his former club Inter Milan fans and said that he should not have left Inter ever and is willing to go back there again.

Lukaku in his interview with Sky Sports said that physically he is fine but he is not happy with the situation at Stamford Bridge. The 28-year-old said that he will not give and will fight for his place in the team. Lukaku, in particular, criticized the gameplay of the Chelsea manager and said he does not like the style of Thomas Tuchel.

‘I’m always thinking about Milano, Milano, Milano… Inter fans are the best in the world. I love the city and the best moment of my career was at Inter. I am in love with Italy – I have Inter in my heart,’ said Romelu Lukaku.

Earlier this year in the summer transfer window in August, Chelsea signed Lukaku for a record $125 million from the Italian club Inter Milan.

Kylian Mbappe becomes first player to score 20 World Cup goals before turning 30

Kylian Mbappe became the first player to score 20 FIFA World Cup goals before turning 30 as France defeated Morocco 2-0 to reach the 2026 World Cup semi-finals.

France captain Kylian Mbappe etched his name into FIFA World Cup history after becoming the first footballer to score 20 World Cup goals before the age of 30 during France’s 2-0 quarter-final victory over Morocco in Boston.

Mbappe broke the deadlock in the second half with his eighth goal of the ongoing tournament. The strike also saw him draw level with Lionel Messi in the race for the Golden Boot while reaching a milestone never previously achieved in World Cup history.

According to the available records, Messi is the only other player to have reached the 20-goal mark at the FIFA World Cup, having scored 21 goals in the competition.

Mbappe recovers after first-half penalty miss

The France skipper had an opportunity to score earlier in the match after winning a penalty following a challenge from Noussair Mazraoui. However, Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou denied him from the spot.

The penalty award sparked debate as television replays appeared to indicate that Mbappe had gone to ground before any contact from Mazraoui.

Despite the setback, Mbappe responded in the second half by opening the scoring and later set up France’s second goal, which was finished by reigning Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele.

France march into World Cup semi-finals

Mbappe was substituted in the 76th minute after appearing to experience some discomfort, with head coach Didier Deschamps deciding not to take any risks.

France’s victory sends Les Bleus into the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals, where they will take on either Spain or Belgium in Dallas next Tuesday.

The 2018 world champions and 2022 runners-up remain on course for a third successive World Cup final under Deschamps, who is overseeing his final World Cup campaign as France coach.

Morocco, playing without injured Ismael Saibari, struggled to create enough attacking opportunities as France controlled the contest to seal another place in the last four.

Mbappe once again underlined his reputation as one of football’s leading goal-scorers, adding another historic achievement to his World Cup career.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s six-World Cup journey ended in heartbreak as Portugal lost to Spain in the Round of 16, bringing an emotional close to his World Cup career.

Cristiano Ronaldo Final FIFA World cup campain ends

Cristiano Ronaldo’s FIFA World Cup journey came to an emotional conclusion as Portugal suffered a narrow defeat to Spain in the Round of 16 of the 2026 tournament. The result ended the veteran forward’s hopes of lifting football’s biggest prize and marked his final appearance at a World Cup.

Ahead of the knockout clash, Ronaldo confirmed that the 2026 edition would be the last World Cup of his career. The Portuguese captain appeared confident before the contest, but the match unfolded very differently as Portugal struggled to break down Spain’s defence.

Portugal’s campaign ends in heartbreak

Portugal entered the tournament with high expectations after an impressive qualification campaign and a squad featuring several established international players. The team was regarded as one of the contenders before the competition began.

However, Portugal found it difficult to consistently produce convincing performances during the tournament. Ronaldo remained the focal point of the attack, but the experienced striker was unable to make the decisive impact fans had hoped for.

Against Spain, Ronaldo registered only 19 touches and managed two shots on target, although neither seriously troubled the goalkeeper. As Portugal searched for a breakthrough, Spain found the decisive goal in stoppage time through Mikel Merino, sealing a dramatic victory.

Following the final whistle, Ronaldo was seen leaving the field in tears as teammates and supporters reflected on the end of an era.

A World Cup career filled with milestones

Ronaldo’s World Cup career began in 2006 and spanned six editions of the tournament. During that period, he set several notable records, including becoming the first player to score in six different FIFA World Cups.

He also finished as Portugal’s highest World Cup goalscorer, ending his career with 11 goals in the competition. However, knockout-stage success remained limited, with Portugal never progressing beyond the quarter-finals during his six World Cup campaigns.

His only knockout-stage World Cup goal came during the 2026 Round of 32 victory over Croatia, where he converted a penalty before being substituted. Goncalo Ramos later scored the winning goal to send Portugal into the Round of 16.

An emotional farewell

Although Ronaldo’s club and international career has featured remarkable achievements, including hundreds of goals and numerous major trophies, winning the FIFA World Cup remained an elusive ambition.

Portugal’s defeat to Spain closed the final chapter of Ronaldo’s World Cup story, bringing an emotional end to one of the most celebrated international careers in football history.

Defending champions Argentina kicked off their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign in emphatic fashion, defeating Algeria 3-0 in their Group J opener with Lionel Messi producing a memorable hat-trick.

The Argentine captain once again proved decisive on the biggest stage, scoring all three goals as his side secured maximum points and sent an early warning to the rest of the tournament contenders.

Messi opened the scoring in the first half before adding two more goals after the break to complete his hat-trick. His performance ensured Argentina remained in control throughout the contest and rarely looked troubled by the Algerian side.

The victory was particularly significant as it came in Messi’s landmark 200th international appearance for Argentina. The veteran forward marked the occasion in style, delivering one of the standout individual displays of the tournament so far.

Argentina dominated possession and created the better opportunities throughout the match, while Algeria struggled to find a way past a disciplined Argentine defence. The reigning world champions combined defensive solidity with attacking quality to comfortably secure the result.

The win gives Argentina an ideal start in Group J, where they will next face Austria. Algeria, meanwhile, will look to bounce back when they take on Jordan in their second group-stage fixture.
