Viral: PVR Cinemas launches discounted offers after man complains about high price of popcorn, cold drinks

The PVR Cinemas has now introduced discounts and has slashed the prices for several food items and beverages.

Recently, a man went to watch a film in PVR Cinemas, Noida and complained on Twitter about the high price he paid for cheese popcorn and Pespsi at the multiplex. The theater has now taken cognizance of the complaint and acted on it. 

The PVR Cinemas has introduced discounts and has slashed the prices for several food items and beverages. Tridip K Mandal had posted the complaint on Twitter on July 2 which showed that he paid Rs 820 for cheese popcorn and Pepsi. Taking to Twitter, he wrote that he paid Rs 460 for 55gm of cheese popcorn and Rs 360 for 600ml of Pepsi, altogether Rs 820 at PVR Cinemas, Noida. He added that it is almost equal to the annual subscription of Amazon Prime video. He further exclaimed that it is no wonder why people do not go to cinemas anymore. He also claimed that watching films with family has now become unaffordable. 

The tweet by Mandal has gained more than 2.6 million views. On Wednesday PVR cinemas responded to the man’s tweet and informed the public about their updated prices. On Weekdays (Monday to Thursday), PVR Cinemas are offering several items like burger, samosa and sandwich together with Pepsi for Rs 99. In addition, on weekends they are offering unlimited popcorn and free refills of Pepsi. Tweeting about the offer, PVR Cinemas wrote that they believe that every opinion matters and that it must be respected. 

Responding to the tweet, Tripid K Mandal expressed that he is glad that PVR Cinemas took his tweet sportingly and acted on it. He added that it is a good move. While many social media user appreciated the move, one Twitter user asked the price for the bottomless deal and added that it is good to do such stuff and generate PR but kept some obvious stuff vague.

Bollywood celebrities Akshay Kumar, Farhan Akhtar, Rajkummar Rao, Jahnvi Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Zoya Akhtar, Sanya Malhotra, Anita Raj and Kunal Kohli stepped out early Monday morning to vote in the Lok Sabha elections in Mumbai. Elections began at 7 am in 13 Lok Sabha constituencies of Maharashtra, including six in Mumbai.

Akshay Kumar said after casting his vote at a polling station in Juhu that he wanted his India to be developed and strong and he kept these things in his mind when he went to cast his vote. He added that all Indians should think what is right for them and vote.

Actor filmmaker Farhan Akthar while standing in the queue at a polling booth in Bandra West to cast his vote said that his vote is for good governance, the government that looks after all the people, gives us a better city. The actor-filmmaker urged people, especially youngsters, to come out and vote.  He said he had just heard from somebody that young people are complaining that it’s too hot but its not hot at all, asked them to step out and vote.

Janhvi Kapoor wore a pink anarkali suit as she arrived to vote at a polling station in Mumbai.

Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma on Sunday slammed Star Sports for recording and broadcasting his private conversation. Sharma took to his social media platform on X and posted that in spite of asking Star Sports to not record his conversation; it was recorded and was also then broadcasted on air, which he referred to as a breach of his privacy.

This comes after a video featuring Rohit Sharma and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) assistant coach Abhishek Nayar went viral on social media platforms where Sharma is seen contemplating his future with the Mumbai Indians team. The former Mumbai Indians captain said, the lives of cricketers have become so intrusive that cameras are now recording every step and conversation they are having in privacy with their friends and colleagues, at training or on match days.

Sharma expressed his concern over the need to get exclusive content which is focused only on views and engagement will have a negative impact on the trust between the cricketers, fans, and cricket.

The post has gone viral on X with 2.2 million views, 2700 comments, 13000 retweets and 73000 likes which are only increasing. Large number of Rohit Sharma fans and cricket enthusiasts commented on the social media post. One X user Archer said that he was surprised on the post by Rohit Sharma and did not see it coming. He added that it was great of Rohit Sharma for calling this out.

One X user Prateek wrote finally captain had to speak against TRP mafia star sports.

Another cricket enthusiast did not agree with Rohit Sharma and wrote that he hardly gave any content with his batting as a result they had to do this.

One Rohit Sharma fan Ayush felt Star Sports should feel shameful for what they have done.
