IPL 2022

Chennai Super Kings dependable player Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of IPL 2022. The pacer has sustained a back injury and doctors suggest he won’t be able to recover in time for the ongoing season of Indian Premiere League.

The right-arm swing bowler suffered injury at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Deepak Chahar was undergoing rehab after he encountered a quadricep tear during India vs West Indies T20 series in February. Earlier, it was believed that Deepak Chahar would miss the initial matches of IPL 2022. But his quick recovery and return kept CSK and their fans, optimistic. But now it seems like the situation has gotten out of their hands, and Deepak will have to return back to retain his full physical strength back.

This comes as a big shock to CSK fans and his IPL franchise. Chennai Super Kings are already suffering to find balance in their team. And now by the absence of their star bowler, the team will have to suffer this season. CSK was unable to retain Deepak Chahar before the IPL Mega Auction 2022. Hence the franchise bought Deepak for a mammoth sum of 14 crores at this year’s IPL auction.

Chennai super Kings seem to have lost their form this season. Understanding that a new team needs time for its formation and understanding each players capabilities but losing four back-to-back matches has also made people question the captaincy of the new skipper Ravindra Jadeja. The team is placed at the bottom of the points table with zero points and a net run rate of -1.211.

Last year’s IPL Champion, Chennai Super Kings will face Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore today at DY Patil Stadium. Faf DuPlessis has been leading the red army this season and has done a splendid work of captaincy. The team has won three back-to-back matches and will be aiming the same today. RCB is currently seated at the third position in points table.

Gautam Gambhir still regrets not using SKY to his best potential in KKR

Published

Former Indian cricket player Gautam Gambir has expressed his regret for not utilizing Suryakumar Yadav’s potential during his 10 years tenure as captain of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He added that the team never managed to use Suryakumar Yadav to his potential.

He further reasoned that Suryakumar Yadav played down the order in several matches because he could play only one player at no. 3, and as a captain, he had to think about the other players in the playing XI. The former KKR captain recalled that Yadav was always willing to contribute to the squad, whether he was benched or played at No. 6 or 7.

Gautam Gambhir said that Suryakumar Yadav, who currently plays for Mumbai Indians in IPL, can perform best accross all formats and is a key player when it comes to ODI. He asserted that the Mumbai Indians player can be dangerous in the ODI format as well. The KKR coach hoped that Yadav will not make himself a one-format player, and keep working hard.

Suryakumar Yadav started his IPL career with Mumbai Indians in 2011 and played a crucial role in winning the trophy that year. In 2014, he was moved to KKR for 4 years where he played under Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy. Featuring as a lower middle-order batter in KKR, Suryakumar Yadav showcased his batting prowess, accumulating 608 runs in 54 matches. In 2018, Suryakumar was again bought by Mumbai Indians where he bats at No 3.

Reacting to Gautam Ghambir’s regret for not utilising Suryakumar Yadav to his potential, social media users shared old posts from 2015 in which Gambir appreciated the entire KKR team but especially praised Suryakumar Yadav and asked fans to give him the nickname SKY.

Some X, formerly Twitter users also shared pictures of Gambhir and Suryakumar when they were teammates and played for KKR. They also posted runs scored by Suryakumar Yadav in T20 matches and praised his captaincy in T20 matches against Australia in the absence of skipper Rohit Sharma and Vice-captain Hardik Pandya.
