T20 World Cup

The upcoming T20 World Cup is round the corner and amidst playing the Indian Premiere League, players are also gearing up for the tournament. India had lost the last T20 World Cup in the early stages and will not want to repeat it’s history. Selectors and cricketer critiques have several options for the team composition in the upcoming T20 World Cup. And that’s exactly what former cricketer Wasim Jaffer has in mind.

Wasim Jaffer seems pretty impressed with Hardik Pandya’s form and suggests that he should be a part of the Indian Cricket Team for the T20 World Cup 2022. Wasim suggests that Hardik Pandya should refill the spot of an allrounder in the team. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to be played in October and November 2022 in Australia.

Hardik Pandya is currently having an amazing tournament. He hit back-to-back fifties in this season of Indian Premiere League. He is one of the the high scorers of the tournament and had the orange cap. And precisely that why Wasim Jaffer and other sport critiques have suggested that Hardik Pandya should be a part of the Indian Cricket team.

Rooting for Hardik Pandya also seems logical because he has finally recovered from all the injuries and is fit. The Indian Team and BCCI has been unable to find a perfect fit for number 6. All-rounder Hardik Pandya seemed perfect for this spot but due to his injuries, he was ruled out of the game. And the failed attempt of selectors to bring his replacement has costed the team in the last World Cup.

Team India won it’s only T20 World Cup in 2007, under the captaincy of former captain MS Dhoni. Later under Virat Kohli’s captaincy India did play the finals but did not lift the World Cup. Before the last World Cup, Kohli has announced that post that tournament he would leave captaincy the shortest format of cricket. Unfortunately, Virat Kohli’s last T20 tournament as a captain was a failure. Having MS Dhoni as it’s mentor and in Ravi Shastri’s last coach ship, India got out in the early stages of the tournament.

Guwahati weather

The much-anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 encounter between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) has hit a weather hurdle. Scheduled to take place at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, the toss for Match 13 has been officially delayed due to persistent rain in the city.

Rain intensifies at Barsapara Stadium

The Guwahati weather has taken a turn for the worse as heavy drizzle forced the groundstaff to keep the pitch and square under covers. While the rain had momentarily eased, allowing for a brief inspection, it returned shortly after, frustrating both fans and players. According to media reports, the probability of rain during match hours has surged to nearly 50%, a significant increase from earlier forecasts.

Cut-off time and over reductions

As the clock ticks, the pressure on the match officials increases. Overs were scheduled to start being reduced from 8:40 PM IST. For those hoping for at least a shortened game, the cut-off time for a minimum five-over-a-side contest has been established at 10:56 PM IST. The city remains under a weather alert, with cloud cover expected to be a major factor throughout the evening.

High-stakes encounter on hold

Rajasthan Royals enter this game with a perfect record, having won their first two matches of the season. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians, led by Hardik Pandya, are looking to bounce back after a mixed start. A key highlight of this match is the potential battle between 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and the experienced Jasprit Bumrah.

Historically, the two teams share a fierce rivalry, with Mumbai holding a slight edge with 16 wins compared to Rajasthan’s 14 in their 31 previous meetings.
