BCCI invites IPL team owners for informal meeting in Ahmedabad on April 16

The owners of the ten IPL teams have been invited by the BCCI to an informal meeting on April 16 in Ahmedabad, where topics may include player retention and a possible rise in the auction budget for the franchises. The meeting is scheduled outside the Narendra Modi Stadium during the Delhi Capitals (DC) vs. Gujarat Titans (GT) match.

A BCCI official said, the IPL owners have been invited for an informal meeting. There is no predetermined agenda of the meeting. Since IPL will be entering into its second month, it will be a good time for all stake-holders to come together and have a conversion on different aspects of the cash-rich league, the official added.

Talks on player retention and a possible rise in the auction price, which is now at Rs 100 crore, are likely to center around the major auction that is scheduled for later this year.

The meeting which is scheduled to be held in Ahemadad, will be attended BCCI secretary Jay Shah, president Roger Binny, and IPL chairman Arun Dhumal.

Before each mega auction, which takes place once every three years and was last held in 2022, teams are currently permitted to keep four players. There will be another massive auction in 2025.

Starting on March 22, the two-month IPL will conclude on May 26 with the final held in Chennai.

The first qualifier and eliminator will take place in Ahmedabad on May 21 and 22, and the qualifier match will take place in Chennai on May 24.

After the dates of the general elections were announced last week, the BCCI released the complete schedule for the IPL matches. Previously, they had only disclosed the schedule for the first two weeks.

Starting on April 19, the seven-phase elections will take place in parallel with the league.
