[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Panelists feel introspection is needed among Congress leaders
The Congress is clearly thinking of the next step. APN’s popular debate Mudda discussed the issue of the Congress leadership amid reports of Rahul Gandhi’s offer to resign as party chief. Anchorperson Akshay posed the questions to panellists, including the BJP’s Dr Ram Sagar Singh, noted scribes Haseeb Siddiqui, Dr Sunil Kaushik, Neeraj Kohli and APN consultant Govind Pant Raju.
Siddiqui said: “The Congress is facing a lack of a leadership. They will have to get the pulse of the people’s real muddas.”
Raju said: “What is this ‘Rahul resigning’ issue? Maybe Rahul Gandhi is trying to put pressure on party men, so that in future no one will blame anyone or question him. This could be a strategy move. If Rahul was angry with Gehlot or Kamal Nath, how come he came to know of these issues after the poll results? Why was the Congress machinery not on the ground? Rahul or Sonia should have been in UP, campaigning from ground to ground. Self-introspection is needed now.”
Kohli said: “When a party wins, it is due to the leader, same when it faces defeat. BJP raised the mudda of family dynasty, so I feel it is a good idea to have a non-Congress chief at the helm now. This is because Rajasthan, MP and Chhattisgarh, where the Congress was expected to do better, the performance was poor. In 17 states, not a single win. Congress is at the crossroads and need to seriously look into these issues.”
Ram Sagar Singh said:”There is a meeting today at Rahul Gandhi’s house, so looks like he has had a change of heart. If he thought there were voters in Lucknow, why they did not vote? That’s because voters for Congress are a minority lot now. Family fiefdoms are falling, people are not going to tolerate that.”
Kaushik said: “It is reported that P Chidambaram also had a role in the poll manifesto…”
Ram Sagar Singh said: “Is Rahul Gandhi a member of the group that wants to destabilise the nation?”
Akshay said if there are no proofs, it is not good to talk like that.
Siddiqui said:”Anthony committee report mentions that Congress is losing vote share because of aligning with Muslims. Congress is winning in minority districts.”
Raju said: “Even the poor did not believe in Rahul’s promises made in the poll manifesto. Loan waivers’ sop was simply handed over to grab the votes, and the people saw through that. Even in Andhra, where the Congress was in power at one time, what happened to Congress there, the BJP was not there…It is not that minorities are not there. If Rahul’s clique comprising ex-Harvardians are going to make the policies, they will be far from the ground.”
Kolhi said: “Everybody knows people’s reaction to the manifestoes now. The Congress blueprint was far from reality.”
Ram Sagar Singh said: “This election was pro-incumbency, not anti-incumbency. I became like a dummy scribe and asked people who they will vote. They said Modi, women in fact said that electricity and grain in their house is because of Modi.”
Akshay asked about incidents of violence that have emerged from Amethi and so on.
Kaushik said: ”Such a big nation, we can’t blame the PM or CM for this. Law is there and local police and administration are responsible for that.”
Siddiqui said: “No one should be targeted, no kind of attacks should be made against anyone, minority or not.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
