Watch out Tata and Hyundai, MG to unveil ZS EV on THIS date

The leading car manufacturer Morris Garage (MG) which has marked the top position in the Indian market in just a few years, credit goes to Hector. Now the firm is all set to drop another bomb on all car enthusiasts. With the growing demand for electric vehicles in the country, the firm will unveil its feature-loaded and updated version of the ZS electric vehicle on December 5. Yes, you read it right.

According to the reports and some official information by the firm, it has revealed that the upcoming MG ZS EV will feature a 50.3 kWh battery pack that will provide slightly more range as compared to the ongoing variant. It has been claimed by the firm that the EV will provide a range of 461 km on a single charge. And, it can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 8.5.

As far as power is concerned, the customers can expect 174bhp and 353Nm of peak torque.

Launched at the starting price of Rs 21.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the ZS EV then and now holds a special space in the Indian auto market. Amid this, it has been expected that the upcoming mid-size SUV after the launch likely to give tough competition to Hyundai’s feature-loaded Kona which was launched in 2019 at the starting price of Rs. 23.84 Lakh (ex-showroom).

Meanwhile, apart from this, the UK-based car manufacturer also planning to drop the facelift version of MG Astor. Ahead of its official, the patent images have been leaked on all the digital platforms, revealing some of its exterior looks.

According to the leaked images, it can be seen that the upcoming vehicle will come with some noticeable changes. The mid-size SUV will have a completely new front fascia. It also features a new grille and headlamp setup, which is making the vehicle more aggressive and appealing.

Reports say that the four-wheeler is expected to hit the Indian market by mid-2023. However, the firm has not revealed any official related information regarding the same as of now.

Ahead of its official launch, some of the official photos of the vehicle have been circulating over social media, claiming that the mid-size SUV is slightly bigger than its ongoing model.

Breaking all the confusion and speculations about the vehicle, some reports say the upcoming mid-size SUV is likely to share the same platform as the current one. But, things like exterior and interior might witness some of the noticeable changes in the facelift version.

Know everything about Kia Seltos facelift 2022

One of the biggest updates customers might witness the ADAS technology (advanced driver assistance system). Yes, you read it right. In order to attract a wide range of customers, the company might introduce this advanced feature in one of its hot-selling products, which will overall change the driving experience and provide decent road safety to the customers.

Apart from this, the official images also reveal that the vehicle also features RADAS (Radio Detection and Ranging) sensors, which basically used in ADAS vehicles so that they can sense large objects on their way and work accordingly.

Customers also can expect a dual-tone interior with a brown and black finish. The company also might launch the Indian version of the Seltos facelift with a fully digital instrument cluster and new color upholstery.

Some of the key features of the SUV will be carried forward in its updated model such as ventilated seats, automatic dual climate control, automatic sunroof, multi-functional steering wheel, and rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, armrest, collision warming alert among others.

Imported cars, including electric vehicles will cost more as the government has hiked the custom duty in the Union Budget presented in the Parliament today by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

According to the budget document, custom duty on vehicles in completely built units (CBUs) priced less than 40,000 US dollars or with engine capacity below 3,000 cc for petrol-run vehicles and less than 2,500 cc for diesel vehicles has been raised from 60 percent to 70 percent.

Customs duty on electrically operated vehicles in CBU form, other than with cost, insurance and freight (CIF) value of more than 40,000 US dollars has also been raised to 70 percent from 60 percent.

The document adds that custom duty on vehicles, including electric vehicles, in semi-Knocked down (SKD) form will be hiked from 30 percent to 35 percent.

Already, cars imported as CBUs with CIF more than 40,000 US dollars or with engine capacity more than 3,000 cc for petrol-run vehicles and more than 2,500 cc for diesel-run vehicles attract 100 percent customs duty.

Increasing custom duties on completely built units (CBUs) is seen by industry insiders as a means to promote domestic manufacturing. It is believed that the hike will not have much on of an impact as most luxury cars, barring some top-end variants, are now assembled in India.

On the other hand, Nirmala Sitharaman stressed that the government will “provide impetus to green mobility” by extending customs duty exemption to import of capital goods and machinery required for manufacture of lithium-ion cells for batteries used in electric vehicles.

Sitharaman said that adequate funds have been allocated to junk government-owned old vehicles in a bid to reduce pollution.

Sitharaman said that the central government will also lend support to states to help replace old vehicles and ambulances, pointing that scraping old polluting vehicles is a vital part for a greener economy.

She added that the government will boost coastal shipping with viable gap funding through PPP mode to promote as energy-efficient and lower-cost mode of transport for both passengers and freight.

Toyota launches Hyryder’s CNG variant, check price, range and specs

After winning the hearts of all the car enthusiasts in India with the feature-loaded SUV Hyryder in fuel variant, the Japanese carmakers now dropped another bomb by converting it into CNG and launched it in the country today. The company has introduced the four-wheeler in two variants named namely S and G that starts with a starting price of Rs 13.23 lakh (ex-showroom).

Interested customers can now pre-book the vehicle by giving a token amount of Rs 30,000 to the company’s authorized showrooms. The same also can be booked from Toyota’s official website. However, the company has not revealed when it will start the delivery of vehicles as of now.

Know everything about the Toyota Hyryder CNG version

The newly launched SUV features a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder K Series engine combined with a five-speed manual transmission. The company claimed that the engine in CNG will generate a mileage of 26.6km/kg and will churn out 102 bhp power and 137 Nm of peak torque.

Talking about the features, the SUV is equipped with company fitted i-smart CNG system, under which the driver can detect the gas capacity, and mileage in its instrumental cluster. Apart from this, the vehicle also will have automatic climate control, wireless supported Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, LED DRLs, projector headlamps, an updated nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control mode, Toyota i-Connect technology, auto-folding ORVMs, and auto-dimming IRVM.

As far as the safety features are concerned, the vehicle will come with six airbags, ABS, EBD engine immobilizer, seat belt reminder, speed alert, and front and rear parking sensors with back camera guidelines.

On the exterior, the company has not made any major changes but customers definitely will witness some minor cosmetic changes from the outside. From the front, the SUV features a a wide trapezoidal lower grille, twin LED Daytime Running Lamp and dynamic R17 Alloy wheels, which overall give a sporty look to the vehicle.

In order to attract more customers, Toyota providing a specialized line of 66 accessories made especially for the Urban Cruiser Hyryder to enhance the ownership experience to the customers.
