The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) will start holding on-demand examinations for its secondary (class 10) and senior secondary (class 12) courses from January 4th onwards. The ODEs will be held at the NIOS headquarters and at certain Kendriya Vidyalayas.

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) will begin the On-Demand Examination (ODE 2022) registration process for Classes 10 and 12 tomorrow, December 6. Students can apply for the NIOS ODE 2022 exams on the website, nios.ac.in and sdmis.nios.ac.in. The dates for practical ODE examinations will be notified to candidates later by the centres, allocated to them.

For the October 2022 examination, NIOS has already started the registration procedure for admission to secondary, senior secondary, and vocational schools. The last date to register for the examination is January 31, 2022, if you want to avoid paying a late fee. Candidates will also get to complete the registration process by March 15 but with a late fee.

NIOS Board Exams 2022: Important Date

Registration date for NIOS ODE– December 6

Date of Examination – January 4, 2022, onwards

At NIOS HQ, Noida, four days a week – Tuesday to Friday

At Kendriya Vidyalaya, three days in a week – Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

From January 4, 2022, onwards, the NIOS On-Demand Examination for Secondary and Senior Secondary courses will be conducted. The ODE Registration and fee submission for the same will be available on the NIOS website.

Nios Board Exams 2022: Fees

Candidates who register for the examination between February 1 and 15 will be fined a late fee of Rs 200, while those who register between February 16 and 28 will be fined a late fee of Rs 400. A late fee of Rs 700 will be imposed on those who apply between March 1 and 15.

Steps to register for NIOS ODE Class 10, 12 Exam 2022

Step 1: Go to nios.ac.in, the official website of the National Institute of Open Schooling.

Step 2: On the screen, click on the application submission link.

Step 3: Register using the phone number and email id.

Step 4: Login with the help of OTP.

Step 3: NIOS registration form will come, then fill in the required details.

Step 5: Upload the documents required.

Step 6: Select subjects, dates of exam, and other asked details.Step 7: Then pay the application fees.

Step 8: After verifying your information, submit the application.

Step 9: Save a receipt of the application fees and download a copy.

The Army Recruitment Office (ARO)-wise merit lists have been uploaded on joinindianarmy.nic.in, where candidates can download the PDF corresponding to their recruitment region.

The merit lists contain the names and roll numbers of candidates who have successfully cleared the written examination and become eligible for the next phase of the Agniveer recruitment process.

Candidates can access their results by following these steps:

  • Visit the official Indian Army recruitment website.
  • Click on the Agniveer CEE Result 2026 link available on the homepage.
  • Select the relevant Army Recruitment Office (ARO) or recruitment region.
  • Download the merit list PDF.
  • Search for your roll number or name to confirm your qualification status.

What happens after the Agniveer CEE result?

Candidates shortlisted in the Common Entrance Examination will now have to undergo the remaining stages of the recruitment process. These include:

  • Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
  • Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
  • Document Verification (DV)
  • Medical Examination

Only candidates who successfully clear every stage will be considered for final selection under the Agniveer recruitment programme.

Board examination marks could soon carry greater significance in admissions to medical and engineering courses, with the Centre reportedly considering a proposal to assign 50% weightage to board scores alongside entrance examinations such as NEET and JEE.

The proposal is part of a broader set of education reforms aimed at reducing the pressure associated with high-stakes examinations and making the admission process more balanced.

Education Ministry panel reviewing admission reforms

According to sources, the proposal is being examined by the Ministry of Education’s nine-member committee that was constituted last year. The panel was tasked with studying students’ growing dependence on coaching institutes, the rise of “dummy schools”, and concerns over fairness in major entrance examinations.

The committee is exploring several measures to improve the existing admission system while reducing the emphasis on a single examination.

Why the reforms are being considered

The discussions come in the wake of multiple controversies involving the examination system, including reported evaluation errors and paper leak incidents. These developments have sparked a wider debate over the credibility and reliability of high-stakes entrance examinations.

To address these concerns, the committee is considering giving 50% weightage to board examination marks in the admission merit process.

Other changes under consideration

Apart from increasing the role of board examination scores, the panel is also examining several other reforms.

These include aligning entrance examinations more closely with school syllabi to reduce students’ dependence on coaching centres, allowing multiple attempts for entrance tests, and gradually introducing adaptive, on-demand computer-based examinations.

Current admission process

At present, admissions to medical and engineering programmes are primarily based on candidates’ performance in entrance examinations such as NEET and JEE. Students are also required to secure the prescribed qualifying marks in their board examinations to become eligible for these entrance tests.

The proposed reforms are currently under consideration, and no final decision has been announced.

The Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (MAHA TET) 2026, scheduled to be conducted on June 28, has been postponed following allegations of a question paper leak. The decision was announced after police uncovered material suspected to be linked to the examination during a raid in Thane district.

Authorities said the suspected leak came to light during an early morning operation in Bhiwandi, where individuals were allegedly found in possession of question papers that matched the actual examination material. Three people have been arrested in connection with the case, while further investigations are underway.

The Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE) subsequently decided to postpone the examination to maintain the integrity and transparency of the recruitment process. Officials stated that a fresh date for the examination will be announced later. Candidates will be required to download new admit cards once the revised schedule is released.

According to officials, more than six lakh candidates were expected to appear for the examination across 1,700-plus centres in the state. The postponement, announced just a day before the test, has affected thousands of aspirants preparing for teaching positions in Maharashtra schools.

The incident has once again raised concerns over the security of competitive examinations in the state, with opposition parties criticising the government over recurring allegations of paper leaks.
