Renowned Rabindra Sangeet veteran singer Sumitra Sen passed away today in Kolkata after prolonged illness. She was 89 years old. The entire Indian music industry is mourning on her demise. Sumitra Sen was suffering from broncho-pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital on December 21, 2022. However, she was discharged from the hospital after three days. But today her daughter informed about Sen’s death through her Facebook post.
The veteran singer is survived by her two daughters. Both are Rabindra Sangeet singers. Sharing the information on her social media account, her daughter Shravani Sen said, ‘Maa left us this morning’. According to reports, Sumitra Sen was admitted to the hospital on December 21 due to cold.
She was discharged after three days. But after that her health deteriorated and the famous Rabindra Sangeet singer passed away this morning. After her demise, crowd of people paying their last respects has started gathering at her residence in Kolkata. Fans are coming to pay their last respects to the veteran singer.

Chief Minister Maamta Banerjee expressed grief
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has condoled the demise of Sumitra Sen. She said, ‘I am deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Sumitra Sen, who enthralled audiences with her voice for decades. I had very close relations with her.’ CM Mamata further wrote, ‘The music world has suffered irreparable loss due to the death of the singer. My condolences to Sumitra di’s daughters Indrani and Shravani and her fans.’
For the unversed, veteran singer Sumitra Sen has lent her voice to hundreds of songs like Megh Bolechhe Jabo Jabo, Tomari Jharantalar Nirjan, Sakhi Bhabona Kahare Bole, Achhe Dukho Achhe Mrityu and many others.

Japan’s Uniqlo appoints Katrina Kaif as company’s first Indian brand ambassador
The 40-year-old actor will appear in the campaigns for Uniqlo on both online and offline platforms.

The Japanese clothing retailer Uniqlo has chosen Bollywood actor Katrina Kaif as its first brand ambassador in India as it tries to attract premium customers and expand its store base.
According to the retailer, on Tuesday, the 40-year-old actor will appear in the campaigns for Uniqlo on both online and offline platforms. Kaif joins the ranks of tennis star Roger Federer, who was appointed as Uniqlo’s global brand ambassador in 2018.
The one-year relationship will see the Bollywood actor support the brand’s Fall-Winter 2023 campaign, which will range all media channels including print, the web, and outdoor, as well as in-store promotional material.

In India, where Uniqlo made its debut in 2019, there are currently 10 stores and plans for two more. The majority of these are in Delhi-NCR, although there are also a few in Lucknow, Chandigarh, and Zirakpur in Punjab. Mumbai would soon get stores from it. With its casual clothing styles, the company attracts customers of all ages.
With the Mumbai store launch in mind, the brand Uniqlo brings more exciting news for Katrina’s fans as the actor has not only established herself in the film industry but in recent times has also made a name for herself in the beauty industry through her makeup brand Kay Beauty. Today, the actor is stepping one step higher by establishing herself in the fashion world through the Japanese brand Uniqlo.
On being chosen as a brand ambassador Katrina said, Uniqlo has been her go-to brand for daily essentials and over the years. The actor further said, admired how efficient and cutting-edge their products are. Their easy, premium clothing is also incredibly adaptable and ideal for creating a daily outfit, she added.
CEO of Uniqlo India Tomohiko Sei said, they are thrilled to have Katrina Kaif join us as Uniqlo’s first brand endorser in India.
Uniqlo is one of the largest fashion companies in Japan in fast retailing. The other brands in the group are GU, Theory, PLST Comptoir des Cotonniers, Princesse tam.tam, J Brand, and Helmut Lan. It is the largest of the eight brands in the group.
Meanwhile, Katrina Kaif will be next seen in Tiger 3 alongside Salman Khan. The film which is produced by Aditya Chopra under YRF banners is scheduled to hit the theaters this year on Diwali.

India’s official entry for the 2024 Academy Awards is the Malayalam film 2018, also known as 2018: Everyone is a Hero, starring Tovino Thomas, the jury, presided over by Kannada director Girish Kasaravalli, announced today. The movie won’t be qualified for the award until it appears on the list of nominees.
2018: Everyone Is A Hero tells stories of people overcoming hardship against the backdrop of the 2018 floods that caused havoc in Kerala. Tovino Thomas plays a young man in the movie who redeemed himself during the floods after leaving the Indian Army with a phoney medical certificate. Along with them, Asif Ali, Lal, Narain, Kunchacko Boban, and Aparna Balamurali play significant roles in the movie.
Under the banners of Kavya Film Company and PK Prime Productions, Venu Kunnappilly, C.K. Padma Kumar, and Anto Joseph produced the film. 2018 turned out to be a huge box office success, and both masses and critics loved the performances of every antor as well as the story was also appreciated.
