Malayalam actor Sreenath Bhasi was booked by Maradu police for allegedly abusing the anchor during an interview.

Reports said the case against Bhasi was filed last week after a journalist complained that the actor used foul language against her and other crew members.

The arrest was made under sections 354 A (1) (IV), 509 and 294 B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Section 354 A (1) (IV) of IPC deals with the offence of making sexually coloured remarks. Section 509 deals with word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman, while section 294 B deals with uttering any obscene song, ballad or words, in or near any public place.

The incident happened during the actor’s film Chattambi’s promotions when the anchor asked him to rate his co-stars on the basis of their rowdiness. Bhasi refused to answer the question following which the anchor asks him to leave on camera. After Bhasi called it a ‘silly’ question, the anchor asked the crew to stop filming.

Reports said Bhasi verbally abused the crew once the camera was turned off. Following the incident, the entertainment portal posted a video on their channel and alleged that Bhasi threw sexist abuses on two women anchors.

The crew member of the YouTube channel said the channel deviates from the usual hard news and instead focuses on funny questions to spread the word about the film as they are an online channel. The crew member also informed that the makers prefer funny questions when they approach the channel for film promotions.

Further, the crew member said Bhasi did not find any questions befitting his status and it is goodwill and entertainment value that fuels an upcoming actor’s success.

His behaviour was not befitting of a lead actor, especially one who comes to promote his film, the crew member concluded.

Sreenath Bhasi was arrested on Monday after being summoned by the police for inquiry. The police have asked him to submit a video clip of the interview to check what pushed him to abuse the anchors and the crew members, the reports said.

Ashutosh Rana deepfake video supporting political party goes viral, actor reacts, says one has to be cautious

Ashutosh Rana responded to his widely shared deepfake video. The actor was recently spotted endorsing a political party during the country’s ongoing Lok Sabha elections in a video that went popular on social media.

Rana voiced concerns in a recent interview on how simple it is to use artificial intelligence (AI) to inject someone’s face artificially into a video. Rana disclosed that he was the victim of a deepfake video, in which a video of him delivering a poem with his face overlaid on it gave the impression that the video was a political party’s request for votes.

The Janwar actor expressed concerned about the use of Artificial Intelligence and suggested caution. He said your face can now be added to any video, which might even result in the assassination of your character. And even if it should occur in the future, he is only sources of accountability would be his guru, his parents, and his wife, Renuka Shahane. He also said he dosen’t really care if not. He will reiterate, though, that caution is necessary. An image may be destroyed in a day, he added, whereas it takes years to build.

Ashutosh Rana is not the only actor to fall victim to deepfake during the national Lok Sabha elections. Earlier, a video featuring Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani actor Ranveer Singh criticizing the government went viral. Singh might be seen in the video pleading with voters to support Nayay (justice) in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. It was then made clear that the viral video had been altered and changed.

Before Ranveer, a different deepfake video featuring Bollywood actor Aamir Khan appeared online. In the video, Khan was seen endorsing a political party. However, the Mumbai police acted and filed a formal complaint (FIR) against an unidentified individual after the video went viral.

Meanwhile, speaking about a possible career in politics, Ashutosh said, normally, it happens that way, but for him, it has gone the other way. He said before being an actor (abhineta), he was a politician (neta). Because of this, some believe that he will soon join the sansad (Parliament). However, some people are unable to enter the Parliament; they must remain outside as part of the throng. He counts himself among them, he added.
