Qala actor Swastika Mukherjee accuses film producer of harassment

Bengali star Swastika Mukherjee accused film producer Sandeep Sarkar of harassment and intimidation after he threatened to share her morphed photos on porn sites.

The Qala actor will be next seen in Shibpur which is produced by Sandeep Sarkar and Ajanta Singh Roy under their banner Indo Americana Production. Reports said Mukherjee filed a complaint after she allegedly received threatening emails along with Sarkar’s associates using morphed photos of the actor and sharing them on porn websites.

The actor also claimed that some of the photos shared by Sarkar were distorted nudes. She clarified that she never met the accused producer during the shooting of Shibpur. While she was shooting and dubbing for the film she used to communicate with Ajanta Sinha Roy.

Reports further said Mukherjee filed a sexual harassment case against the producer with the Golf Green Police Station and will also reach out to the Eastern India Motion Pictures Association and seek action against Sarkar.

She also alleged that Sarkar sent her a few threatening emails saying he is an American citizen and that if she didn’t cooperate with the team he would consult the US Consulate to make sure she never gets a US visa.

Speaking to the media, Shipbur director Arindam Bhattacharya called it a creative disagreement and refrained from making any comments on the matter.

Swastika Mukherjee made her Bollywood debut in 2008 with Mumbai Cutting. She then played a titular role in Amazon Prime Video Paatal Lok, Criminal Justice: Adhura Sach. She was last seen in Netflix psychological thriller Qala co-starring Tripti Dimri and Babil Khan.

Pankaj Tripathi pooh-poohs joining politics rumour, says still busy with acting

Pankaj Tripathi, one of India’s finest actors in the contemporary era, has refuted recent rumours that he would enter politics.

The actor said he is committed to his acting career. Known for his performance as Kaleen Bhaiya in the hit web-series Mirzapur, Tripathi asserted acting is his priority. “Abhi toh filhaal acting ki dukaan achi chal rahi hai (Right now, the acting is keeping me busy),” Tripathi said in an interview.

As Tripathi was currently engrossed in the upcoming Mirzapur 3, he hinted at the dynamic power shifts in Purvanchal but did not reveal much, saying he has only seen his scenes as of now. Tripathi’s performance, though relatively shorter in this latest season, came in for praise.

Tripathi is flush with diverse projects. He will first be seen in Stree 2, slated for an August 15 release, re-essaying his role from the 2018 hit along with Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in its sequel. Anurag Basu’s much-anticipated sequel, “Ludo: Metro In Dino”, completes the mix of categories and storylines for him.

Beginning with animation, Tripathi has walked a path of artistic integrity in Indian cinema and ruthless hunt of excellence. With such a varied collection running the range of types of platforms, he was to accomplish the inspiration of talent and dedication—gripping audiences time and again with new roles.

Three scary posters announce trailer release of Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2

With the trailer of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-starrer Stree 2 due to be released on July 18, actor Shraddha Kapoor shared three posters of the film on Instagram.

The release of the highly anticipated sequel to 2018’s Stree is not too far away. The film stars Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, the sequel is to be released ahead of Independence Day 2024.

After the release of the teaser, the maker will now unveil the movie trailer on July 18. Shraddha has attempted to show a glimpse of the horror in the new film to get viewers excited for the trailer’s launch.

In one poster shared on Instagram, a hand can be seen holding a braid, which appears to be glowing with a bolt of lightning. A shadow is visible in the background, and the line “O Stree Raksha Karna” is also written on top of the poster along with the film’s title Sarkate Ka Aatank, and the poster’s bottom has 2 days written on it.

The second poster shows Shraddha’s character fighting the evil spirit with her braid and the caption says “Aatank jab Chanderi par chhaya tab sabko 1 hi nara yaad aya o stree raksha karna (When terror is let loose in Chanderi, people recalled only one slogan, woman protect us)”. And on the third poster, it says she’s coming to protect everyone from the powers  of the black power in just two days.

The Stree 2 cast features Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana. Presented by Jio Studios and Dinesh Vijan, the film is directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande. Written by Niren Bhatt, the film’s cinematography is by Jishnu Bhattacharjee.

The film has special appearance galore, they include Varun Dhawan, Tamannaah Bhatia and Akshay Kumar. The film will also stream on Amazon Prime Video after its release.

Stree 2, howeve, will clash at the box office with Akshay Kumar and Taapsee Pannu’s Khel Khel Mein as well as John Abraham and Sharavari Wagh’s Vedaa, which are also releasing on the same date.
