[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]All are equal in the eyes of law. Donkeys being jailed was an exemplary case of enforcing this principle in Uttar Pradesh. It was reported widely on Monday and even international news organisations picked up this story.

A day later, on Tuesday, UP Police humbly denied their hand in this.
“Uttar Pradesh Police has nothing to do with their arrest or custody,” the department said in a tweet to NDTV on Tuesday.
The donkeys had been detained at the Urai district jail complex for four days for eating expensive plants in the facility, the kind they would never have had a chance to be fed. Their owner, Kamlesh, had reportedly let them roam around despite being told that a senior officer was planting some expensive plants worth lakhs.
Kamlesh didn’t restrain them and the donkeys apparently loved the change from the daily fare they were fed.
The expensive meal landed them in jail.
“The animals not only ate plants, they ruined the entire garden and injured the children of the colony,” Jail Superintendent Sitaram Sharma told PTI. “We called the owners several times, and each time, they said the animals didn’t belong to them.”
Other jail officials explained defensively that they had taken good care of the donkeys, making ‘all arrangements’ for them and feeding them twice a day.
The donkeys’ owner Kamlesh, however, claimed that despite several requests and pleadings with them, the cops at the jail had refused to release the animals. He finally managed to get them freed after he sought the help from the local BJP Shakti Gahoi, who went to the police along with Kamlesh and persuaded them to let the animals go.
In videos put out by news ANI, the donkeys, said to be eight in number, were seen walking out of the prison gate in the district jail in Orai and were unaccompanied.[/vc_column_text][vc_raw_html]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[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row]
