A video of a Sub Divisional Magistrate of Mirganj, Udit Pawar, humiliating a person at his office has gone viral on social media platforms. The incident took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district. In the video, SDM could be seen making a person ‘Murga’ at his office

According to reports, the victim went to register the complaint with SDM about a land encroachment case where he urged the Magistrate to help him get back the land from the encroachment in his village. Reportedly, the encroached land is being used for cremation purposes in the village.

After the incident went viral on the internet, the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav, expressed his anguish over this incident and thrashed the Yogi-led BJP government for the autocratic bureaucracy in the state. The former CM shared the facts, theory, expectations, and warnings in a criticism of the government.

He said this is the real face of the autocratic bureaucracy under the monopoly rule in Uttar Pradesh and a true picture of the official government atrocities being committed on the weak and vulnerable people of Uttar Pradesh.

CM Yadav further explained the theory and said the dictatorship comes from the top to down and becomes a part of the behaviour of officials from the national capital to the state capital.

Akhilesh Yadav said the government should take cognizance of the matter and suspend the officer and conduct an inquiry or the court should take suo motu cognizance of it, he termed it an expectation.

The former CM also gave a warning and said before turning a complainant ‘Murga’, the officer should have paid attention to the colour, he was wearing, otherwise the BJP government might make the officer the same ‘Murga’ body posture for insulting a particular colour.

However, after the incident, Udit Pawar issued a statement denying all the allegations against him. He said that the matter had been fabricated and he never asked the complainant to sit down in a humiliating position.

The SDM further said that the complainant himself sat in the rooster position for pressurising the SDM to take the cognisance of his complaint.

After this, however, the SDM was sacked from the administrative services as he was found guilty.
