CRPF warns staff not to add friends, upload photos or videos in uniform on social media

Central police forces have warned their staff to not indulge in online friendships, upload photos or send requests to suggestions as it can increase the risk of honey trap and sensitive information being leaked, according to reports.

Following a detailed analysis, it was noted that multiple CRPF personnel were uploading their videos in uniform from sensitive locations and sending chat messages and friendship requests to several social media users. Reportedly, a letter has been sent to forces regarding the matter. Reportedly, several paramilitary and police forces have alerted their troops and warned them of action in case of violation after receiving a letter from a central Intelligence agency.

In accordance with the social media alert, CRPF has asked its force not to post or upload photos and videos in uniform and indulge in friendship with strangers on social media platforms.

Reports state that an official note stated that it has been observed that CRPF personnel are uploading their photos and videos in uniform and indulging in friendship with strangers on social media platforms. Therefore, the competent authority has directed that all units and offices should ascertain that the personnel under their command do not post their photos and videos in uniform on their social media handles. 

The official note further directed the concerned authorities to ensure strict compliance to social media guidelines. It further asked personnel not to make friends on social media without verification of the person. It added that all personnel may be informed that violation of these instructions will lead to strict disciplinary action against the concerned.

Taking cognisance of the warning, Delhi Police commissioner Sanjay Arora wrote a letter to his force, warning them to not comment, post, transmit, or disseminate any confidential information related to the guilt, innocence, pending trial of any suspect or arrested person. The letter further underlined that police should not post comments that are inflammatory or derogatory towards victims, suspects or any other individual or group. It underlined that police can’t record videos of high-security areas or protected persons. Sanjay Arora further mentioned that the police staff should not use social media during duty hours and avoid uploading sensitive information on social media platforms.

Meanwhile, other paramilitary forces have also released or reiterated their social media policy in the past few days and asked all troops, especially those deployed in border areas, to avoid making reels or use social media during sensitive deployments. Reportedly, forces like BSF and ITBP have also warned their troops to not upload photos from forward areas and avoid accepting friend requests from unknown persons without verifying their identity.

The social media warning follows after a honey trap case was observed in CISF where a constable deployed at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant was found to be in touch with a woman Intelligence officer in Pakistan and may have shared a few details. NOtably, Pakistan Intelligence officers have also tried to call the control rooms of several forces by introducing themselves as senior officials.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attacked the opposition on Tuesday and said that the INDIAlliance is planning to loot the country by dividing the people on the basis of caste and religion. Adityanath was addressing an election rally in Gaisdi where he was seeking votes for the BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Shravasti Saket Mishra and the party’s nominee for by-elections in Gaisdi Lok Sabha seat Shailesh Kumar Singh Shailu.

He said the BJP is serving the public under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and they do not practice discrimination and are working with the spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. At the same time, INDI alliance wants to loot the country by dividing the country’s people on the basis of caste and religion, which BJP will not allow to happen.

The chief minister said that people have come to know about the intentions of the INDIA bloc, as a result they are saying together in one voice — Phir ek baar Modi sarkaar, ab ki baar, 400 paar. The UP CM said the people are replying to them (INDIA bloc) and saying that they will bring back those who have brought Ram.

He added that the INDIA Bloc is making malicious attempts to encroach on the rights of people in Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Backward Castes categories. He said everyone should remain cautious and all alert about the conspiracy being hatched by INDIAlliance. Adityanath sharpened his attack on the INDIA bloc and said the opposition parties are using all kinds of tricks to come back to power.

Adityanath pointed out that the deeds of the opposition parties are not hidden from the public. They are planning to conduct a survey of the property of people for the removal of poverty from the country. He said everyone should remain cautious and alert as the opposition parties are planning to implement inheritance tax which is similar to Jaziya imposed by Mughal emperor Aurengzeb.

Arvind Kejriwal predicts INDIA bloc will win 300 seats and form next government

Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday cited surveys and said the INDIA bloc will win over 300 of 543 Lok Sabha seats and form the next government.  He said the 5th phase of the Lok Sabha elections is over.

Kejriwal was addressing a digital press conference from his residence where he said as different phases of elections are over, it has become clear that on June 4, the INDIA bloc will win and form the next government at the centre. The findings of many surveys show that on June 4, the INDIA bloc is going to get over 300 seats. He added that the INDIA bloc is progressing and is on the way to give a clean and stable government.

The Delhi chief minister addressed the press conference days before Delhi’s all seven Lok Sabha seats are due to go for elections in the 6th phase of voting on May 25. The Aam Aadmi Party, a key constituent of the INDIA bloc, is contesting 4 of the 7 Lok Sabha seats in alliance with Congress. The BJP swept the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi in 2014 and 2019, winning all 7 seats.

Top leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yogi Adityanath , Amit Shah (BJP), Kejriwal, and Rahul Gandhi (Congress) have campaigned in New Delhi which is going to end on May 23. Earlier The Delhi Chief Minister had slammed Amit Shah a day after he addressed an election rally in Delhi on Monday. 

He slammed the union Home minister and said not even 500 people attended Amit Shah’s rally. He accused Shah of abusing the people of the country and Delhi. Kejriwal accused Shah of calling AAP supporters as Pakistanis. He said the people of Delhi gave AAP 62 out of 70 [assembly] seats and asked if they were Pakistanis?

Pune police arrest father after son’s fatal Porsche crash, restaurant owner also detained

The Pune police have arrested the father of the juvenile involved in the fatal accident that occurred on Monday morning. The minor was driving a Porsche without a registration number, which crashed into a bike, resulting in two deaths. The authorities have also arrested the owners of two restaurants and a staff member for serving alcohol to minors.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar confirmed that the father of the accused has been arrested after he attempted to evade capture. He mentioned that the father was detained from Maharashtra’s Sambhajinagar in the morning and was formally arrested after being brought to Pune.

Among those arrested were Pralhad Bhutada, owner of Cosie, and Sandip Sangale, owner of Blak Club. The Pune Police Commissioner added that the license holders of two restaurants and one more person were arrested late last night and would be produced in court today.

The minor’s father, a prominent real estate developer in Pune, reportedly manages a famous club and has built a star hotel in addition to several significant projects. The Pune Police have booked the aforesaid people under the Motor Vehicles Act (MVA) and the Juvenile Justice Act (JJA) for failing in their duties as guardians and for allowing the minor to drive without a license.

The Yerawada police arrested the father for permitting the minor to drive, while the restaurant owners and staff were charged for serving liquor to the minor. The Police have invoked sections 3, 5, and 199A of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, and sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. The action was taken after police found that the Porsche, purchased in March, had not been registered. 

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra assembly Vijay Wadettiwar demanded a judicial inquiry into the accident. He said that there is a question mark on Pune Police’s investigation, therefore a judicial inquiry should be conducted in this case.

He further pointed out that the police have reported that the alcohol test of the accused in the Pune accident was negative, but the CCTV footage of the accused, who is a minor, is drunk and that the report is raising a question mark on the police investigation.
