The Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Saturday said a second lockdown is not a solution to deal with rising cases of coronavirus infections. The coronavirus cases in the national capital continue to surge as it reported over 1,500 new cases on Friday for a second consecutive day.

Repeating the comments made by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in May 2020, Jain said the people have to learn to live with it. He said there is no possibility of the lockdown. Earlier there was a logic behind imposing lockdown as no one knew how the virus would spread. Initially the government was told that if all the activities are shut down, the virus will stop spreading. Even then the lockdown kept extending but despite this, the coronavirus spread did not stop. Lockdown is not a solution, Satyendar Jain said.

While urging the citizens to get vaccinated as soon as they become eligible, Jain said that coronavirus is a recurring disease and experts said from the very beginning that do not believe it will be finished immediately.

He also stressed on the need to follow rules – including using face masks and maintaining social distancing. He said people wore masks for two or three months then they stopped. This is wrong. He appealed to the people to wear masks so that the spread of the virus can be controlled better, he said.

There were fewer cases earlier but it has increased now. So the government has increased the number of tests and conducts 85,000-90,000 tests every day, which is more than 5% of the national average. The government is also doing contact tracing and isolation, he added.

He said that Delhi hospitals have a sufficient number of beds for coronavirus patients. The occupancy is around 20% now, 80% of the beds are unoccupied. The government is monitoring the situation, if occupancy increases, the government will increase the number of beds, the health minister added.

Meanwhile, Delhi reported 1,534 fresh cases of Covid-19, 971 recoveries, and 9 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The India-Middle East-Europe corridor will become the basis of world trade for hundreds of years to come and history will always remember that the corridor was initiated on Indian soil, said PM Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his 105th episode of Mann Ki Baat said that the India-Middle East-Europe corridor will become the basis of world trade for hundreds of years to come and history will always remember that the corridor was initiated on Indian soil.

On September 24 in his monthly Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi also talked about Chandrayaan-3’s success and urged all citizens to participate in the Chandrayaan-3 Mahaquiz, a unique opportunity to learn and celebrate India’s lunar mission. Let’s embark on this cosmic adventure together, he added.

PM Modi said throughout the year, programmes related to G20 were held at numerous universities in the country. Now in this series, another exciting programme is about to take place in Delhi, which is G20 University Connect Programme, he said.

Speaking about World Tourism Day, he said two days from now, 27th September, is World Tourism Day. Some people view tourism just as a means of touring and travelling, but a very big aspect of tourism is related to employment, the Prime Minister further said.

He further talked about temples in Karnataka. PM Modi said a few days ago, that Shantiniketan and the holy Hoysala temple of Karnataka have been declared world heritage sites by UNESCO. He extended his greetings to the countrymen on this feat.

During the G20 Summit in New Delhi, US principal deputy national security advisor Jon Finer announced an unprecedented and ground-breaking infrastructure initiative involving a railway and shipping corridor that will improve trade, energy, and digital connectivity.

Speaking to reporters, Finer drew an indirect but striking comparison between China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the project, saying it will close a significant infrastructure gap and be high-standards, transparent, sustainable, non-coercive and based on the demand signal from the region instead of being an imposition.

BRI is heavily attacked for entangling nations in unmanageable debt, as well as for being opaque, forceful, and sacrificing standards.

Finer claimed that the project is consistent with the greater West Asian agenda of the Joe Biden administration.
