Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday gave a fiery speech in the Parliament. In his speech, he covered issues like monopoly by industrialists like Adani and Ambani and issues about the great divide between the poor and the rich in India.

Here are the key highlights of his speech:

  • There are two Indias, one is of poor and the other one is of rich and the gap between the two is growing.
  • The ruling party will never ever in their life rule over the people of Tamil Nadu. No matter what fantasies they have, they will never ever rule over the people of a state of India.
  • The country has always been ruled by conversation and negotiation and that is the only way India has been ruled. You can look at Ashoka, Maurya.
  • My great grandfather was jailed for 15 years while he was building this thing. My grandmother was shot 32 times. My father was blown to bits. So I understand a little bit about what this country is. You are fiddling with something very, very dangerous. I am advising you to stop. Because if you don’t stop you will create a problem. The problem has already started in the Northeast, in Tamil Nadu – it’s not visible to you right now – Jammu and Kashmir.
  • The Congress party smashed that idea of a king in 1947. Now the idea of a king has come back. A king, a shahenshah. A ruler of rulers, a master of masters.
  • One person gets every port in India, every airport, tower, transmission, mining, green energy, gas distribution, edible oil. Everywhere there is (Gautam) Adani ji. The entire wealth of the country is going to a chosen few.
  • The nation is at risk from outside, the nation is at risk from inside. That is a very dangerous place and I am very uncomfortable with my nation standing where it is standing – completely isolated on the outside, fighting on the inside, institutions captured, states not able to speak to each other. This worries me.
  • The government is using the judiciary, the Election Commission, and the Pegasus spyware as instruments to destroy the voice of the union of states.
  • You keep talking about Make in India, Make in India. Make in India is not possible anymore. You have destroyed ‘Made in India’. You need to support small and medium industries, otherwise ‘Make in India’ is not possible. Small and medium industries are the only ones who can create jobs. You keep talking about Made in India, New India, Start-Up India, etc. And joblessness is only increasing.

Telugu actor Taraka Ratna faints during TDP leader Nara Lokesh's padayatra in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor

Telugu actor Nandamuri Taraka Ratna fell unconscious on Friday during the padayatra of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) general secretary Nara Lokesh in Kuppam in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.

He was immediately rushed to the hospital in Kuppam after he fainted during the Padayatra. He was later shifted to the multispeciality hospital in Bengaluru for better treatment.

Reportedly, Taraka Ratna had no pulse, and his body turned blue when he was brought to the hospital. As per the latest reports, his pulse has returned after 45 minutes of treatment. Doctors state that the actor is currently receiving medical treatment.

The incident happened when there was a stampede-like situation outside a mosque that Lokesh visited shortly after launching his 4,000-kilometer padayatra. The actor-turned-politician Ratna was also a part of the padayatra.

According to the reports, ex-CM Nara Chandra Babu Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh launched a padayatra in Kuppam on Friday, and he was accompanied by several political leaders. Ratna also accompanied Lokesh in the padayatra.

Lokesh performed a special puja at Lakshmipuram Sri Varadaraja Swamy Temple before launching padayatra and then went to the mosque where he was joined by Ratna after a brief walk. It seems that Taraka Ratna fainted while leaving the mosque, probably from suffocation from overcrowding.

Taraka Ratna is the grandson of TDP founder, legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. T. Rama Rao. He is the cousin of Junior NTR, Kalyan Ram and Lokesh.

Meanwhile, the padayatra will conclude at Ichapuram in the Srikakulam district after over 400 days. Andhra Pradesh is looking forward to the assembly election in the state which will be held in June 2024.

Taraka Ratna, who made his film debut in 2002 and has acted in about a dozen movies and web series, is reportedly keen to contest next year’s Assembly elections. On the professional front, he was last seen in the S5-No Exit film.
