Bharat Ratna Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar celebrates his 49th birthday today on April 24. With tons of runs in his bag, smashing every record in the book, he is not just a cricketer but also considered the god of cricket. Despite the limelight and billions of Indian and abroad die-hard cricket fans, his roaring success never got to his head.

Apart from many lesser-known facts about little master, did you know that Tendulkar first appeared in International cricket for Pakistan under the captaincy of Imran Khan? Yes, he has been played for Pakistan and the match was against India. That’s right actually.

However, not many are aware that Tendulkar first got the taste of international cricket when he took the field for a Pakistan team that was playing against India at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. Tendulkar recalled the incident in his autobiography ‘Playing It My Way’ of taking the field for Pakistan two years before his India debut in 1987.

16-year-old Tendulkar, who played his first International cricket match against arch-rivals Pakistan in 1989, had first appeared in Internation Cricket for Pakistan. During an exhibition match between India and Pakistan on January 20, 1987, Tendulkar was sent as a substitute fielder for Imran Khan’s team.

He does not know whether Imran Khan remembers this or has any idea that he once fielded for his Pakistan team. Pakistan cricketers Javed Miandad and Abdul Qadir had left the field during the lunch break and he was asked to field for the visiting team as a standby fielder, Tendulkar wrote in his book Playin It My Way which was published in 2014.

In his book, Tendulkar also explained how a 13-year-old cricketer was involved in Kapil Dev’s dismissal?

Sachin Tendulkar made his Test debut against Pakistan in Karachi in November 1989 at the age of 16 and made only 15 runs. He was bowled by Waqar Younis, who also made his debut in that match. In the match, he had handled numerous bouncers by Pakistani pacers on his body.

In the fourth and final Test in Sialkot, Tendulkar was hit on the nose by pacer Waqar Younis’ deadly bouncer but he declined medical assistance and continued to bat even as he gushed blood from it.

After defeating Australia and South Africa in T20 series but 2-1, Team India along with skipper Rohit Sharma and former captain Virat Kohli has left for Australia where the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 will be played. The Board of Cricket Council in India (BCCI) shared the official update through it’s Twitter handle.

The 14-member Indian squad along with Head Coach Rahul Dravid and team staff left for Australia from Mumbai on Thursday. The World Cup 2022 tournament will initiate on October 16 with the qualifying round matches, and later the Super 12s will begin from October 22.

The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team will kickstart their campaign against their arch-rivals, Pakistan on October 23 at Melbourne Cricket Ground. This will be a repeat of last year’s T20 World Cup opener for both the teams.

Several cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik have also shared pictures via their respective Twitter and Instagram Handle. Check out the pictures.

Team India has left two weeks before the start of their T20 World Cup campaign. The team management has given this time for Men In Blue to get acquainted with the Australian conditions well in advance.

The reason behind this is the fact that at least half of the Indian players selected for the T20 World Cup 2022 haven’t yet experience the playing conditions in Australia before. Hence, to help them get used to the bounce there and get some good practice time, Indian team management have decided to travel there in advance.

IND vs PAK: Is Mohammed Shami the replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in T20 World Cup 2022?

ICC T20 World Cup 2022 will begin from October 16 but India will kickstart their campaign on October 23 against their arch rivals Pakistan in Melbourne.

India’s worst fear regarding Jasprit Bumrah has finally come true. The ace fast bowler has been ruled out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 due to injury. Bumrah made a comeback in international cricket after six months in the India vs Australia T20 series.

And later due to the complaints of back niggle, he was ruled out of the bilateral series. But finally after much anticipation, BCCI made the official confirmation last night that pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the mega tournament due to a back injury.

And now reports have been making rounds on the internet that India’s most experienced pacer Mohammed Shami is most likely to replace Bumrah in the 15-member squad for the World Cup while Mohammed Siraj will travel to Australia as a standby. It seems like BCCI had to choose between Deepak Chahar and Shami, when Bumrah eventually failed to make the cut.

But now that Harshal Patel is not having his mojo back with Bumrah struggling with his placement of ball, Harshdeep and Deepak Chahar along with Mohammed Shami will be India’s only hopes.

When it comes to spinner, Ravindra Jadeja is out of the tournament due to his injury and Yuzi Chahal is also out of form. It will be interesting to see if skipper Rohit Sharma will include Ravichandran Ashwin in the playing XI or not. Hardik Pandya’s performance with the bat and ball, both will be crucial for India.

ICC T20 World Cup 2022 will begin on October 16 but India will kickstart their campaign on October 23 against their arch rivals Pakistan in Melbourne.

HETMYER

West Indies explosive middle-order batter Shimron Hetmyer will not pose any threat to the opponents in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup after he missed his rescheduled flight to Australia.

Cricket West Indies have dropped Shimron Hetmyer from their men’s T20 World Cup squad and announced Shamarh Brooks as his replacement for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

This morning, Hetmyer, informed the CWI Director Jimmy Adams that he would not be able to get to the airport in time for his flight this afternoon to New York.

Upon reading the news, a section of social media users started poking fun at the West Indian cricketer for missing out on the marquee tournament in Australia. Others imagined Hetmyer desperately hopping on the third plane to reach the venue to secure a spot in the team.

In a statement, CWI said the selection panel had taken the decision unanimously, which also decided to name Shamarh Brooks as Hetmyer’s replacement.

The CWI on Tuesday informed the ICC that Shamarh Brooks replaced Shimron Hetmyer in the West Indies Squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in Australia after the latter missed his re-scheduled flight to Australia.

Hetmyer was scheduled to travel on October 1 but, upon his request, due to family reasons, to the board, his travelling dates were changed. He missed the second flight as well.

With flight availability a real challenge, a seat was found for him to leave Guyana on Monday, meaning he would, unfortunately, miss the 1st T20I against Australia on Wednesday, October 5 at the Metricon Stadium.

Nicholas Pooran-led West Indies will kick off its T20 World Cup campaign against Scotland in the qualifiers. The team is in Group B, alongside Ireland, Scotland and Zimbabwe with the top two teams progressing to the Super 12s.
