Congress Working Committee meeting

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Alleges narrow minded world view and stagnation

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday strongly criticised the BJP-led NDA government for “seeking to extinguish” the essence of India with a downward journey of economic growth and diminishing tolerance in the social fabric.

Addressing the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting at her residence on Tuesday, Sonia said under the Narendra Modi government, harmony is being replaced by discord, tolerance by provocation and economic potential to stagnation.

The CWC meeting was held after a gap of seven months. Sonia Gandhi did not attend the November 7 meeting because of ill-health. Instead Rahul Gandhi, the party vice president had chaired the meeting. On that occasion, former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and senior party leader AK Antony made a strong pitch for Rahul Gandhi to take over the reins of the party.

Sonia Gandhi said in the three years of  NDA government, India has seen a “brazen campaign to straitjacket the whole country into regressive and narrow minded world view”.

In the recent months, Congress has been working to bring most of the opposition parties together against NDA government for the upcoming presidential elections which will have a direct bearing on general elections in 2019.

Ghulam Nabi Azad, senior party leader, while briefing the mediapersons after the meeting, said that CWC has discussed the economy, situation in Jammu and Kashmir and Presidential elections.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
