Delhi administered over 2.05 lakh Covid shots on Saturday, the highest in a day. With this, the Delhi broke its record of administering 1,66,209 Covid vaccine doses on Friday. It was the highest figure administered in a day till now, the Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.

As the inoculation programme in Delhi kept up its upward momentum, days after a new phase of the drive kicked off across the country, the national capital on Saturday administered a record of over 2.05 lakh Covid vaccines, the highest in a day.

Earlier on Friday, a total of 1,66,209 vaccine doses were administered in Delhi which was the highest before Saturday’s record vaccination.

It was the highest figure administered in a day till now, the Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia  said. He had also tweeted Saturday’s vaccination figures and claimed that it has surpassed all records.

The development comes after the AAP MLA Atishi had written to the Central government and  requested them to provide 45 lakh doses of vaccine for July. In a vaccine bulletin, she had said about 1.5 lakh vaccine doses are being administered daily in Delhi. Therefore, at least 45 lakh doses should be given to Delhi in July. She had also urged the Centre to provide more vaccine doses to vaccinate the people of Delhi as soon as possible and save them from the third wave.

She had also briefed vaccine bulletin on Friday and said Delhi received 58,000 doses of Covaxin and 53,000 doses of Covishield. Delhi has 8.39 lakh doses available and according to the current vaccination speed the stock will last for five days.

As per the Cowin portal data, the total number of Covid vaccine administered till Saturday stands at 73,28,647, out of which 56,28,594 are first doses and 17,00,053 are second ones. The national capital has 1,320 vaccination sites.

The data shows over 31.87 lakh people of 18-44 age group have received at least first Covid vaccine dose while over 25 lakh people of 45-60 age group have received the doses. Over 16.40 lakh senior citizens have been inoculated so far.

Delhi also added 288 new vaccination sites on Thursday, taking the number of sites in the city to 1,374, all of which are now open to people of all ages.

India’s Covid vaccination drive began on January 16, for health care workers, expanded to include all front-line workers on February 1, and then, everyone over the age of 60 years and people over the age of 45 on March 1. On April 1, it was further expanded to include everyone over the age of 45.

After increasing demand by the several states and people, the drive was opened up to everyone over the age of 18 years, later, the private hospitals were also allowed to offer vaccinations.

PM modi paid tribute to Guru Ravidas on his 647th birth anniversary. Remembring him today, the PM said, his message on harmony will continue to inspire generations.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, PM Modi shared a video captioned it saying, respectful tribute to Guru Ravidas on his birth anniversary. On this occasion, the PM conveyed his best wishes everyone across the country. He further said, his message based on equality and harmony will continue to inspire every generation of the society.

Meanwhile, yesterday PM Modi unveiled Guru Ravidas’s statue in Varanasi. He also addressed the people gathered their. At the Sant Guru Ravidas Janmasthali temple in Seer Govardhanpur, close to BHU, the Prime Minister dedicated a recently installed statue of Sant Ravidas that is close to Ravidas Park.

Addressing teh audiance PM Modi complimented the devotion of participants from all across the country, especially those from Punjab, saying that because of their presence, Kashi started to resemble a miniature version of Punjab.

PM Modi also inaugurated a number of development projects around Sant Ravidas Janmasthali at the event, with a combined budget of about Rs 32 crores. The foundation stone was placed for the Sant Ravidas Museum and the park’s beautifying, which is projected to cost approximately Rs 62 crore. These developments also include improvements to the infrastructure.

Guru Ravidas was a popular saint, poet, and philosopher who campaigned for equality and human rights. Most people in North India celebrate Guru Ravidas Jayanti, particularly in the state of Punjab.

On this day, people commemorate the birth anniversary of the revered saint Guru Ravidas, whose sermons and teachings have improved people’s lives. He is also known for his contributions to the Bakti Movement. Guru Ravidas is also called Raidas, Rohidas, and Ruhidas. He is sometimes referred to as Bhagat Ravidas. In the year 1377 CE, Guru Ravidas was born in the state of Uttar Pradesh in a little village known as Seer Govardhanpur.

Akhilesh Yadav slams BJP after young unemployed man hangs himself over paper leak in UP’s Kannauj

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav slammed the BJP government after a 28-year-old unemployed man hanged himself over the paper leak in Kannauj. He said it’s a dream to find a job under its regime.

Samajwadi Party chief, taking to X, further attacked the BJP for their negligence in terms of providing jobs to youths. Yadav said the BJP, who had deployed every trick to come into power, turned away in the name of providing jobs.

He further expressed his sadness over the news and said it upset with the tragedy of joblessness, a young man from Kannaj, identified as Brajesh Pal, committed suicide by hanging himself.  

Before doing this he burned all his degrees. Giving up life is not a solution. Only struggle finds the way to a solution. Expecting a job in the BJP government is a dream, Yadav added.

According to police, the 28-year-old unemployed man burned all his education certificates and committed suicide by hanging himself in his house in the Bhoodpurwa area here.

Police further stated that student Pal had recently appeared for a police recruitment exam and was upset over the paper leak. On February 22, he killed himself.

In a suicide note, he blamed joblessness behind his major move to kill himself. He further wrote, now I am upset. What is the use of degrees when one cannot get a job, he wrote.

In his note, Pal wrote that he had betrayed his family, and asked them to marry off his sister in a very good manner. His father works in a private job in Delhi. He was the only son of his parents. Pal’s body has been sent for post-mortem, Sadar Police Station SHO Vishnu Kant Tiwari said.

The UP Police constable exam held on February 17 and 18 faced both exam paper leaks and cases of impersonation. Since then, there has been a growing demand for a redo of the exams. Many districts’ candidates demanded exam cancellation after discovering a leaked paper on WhatsApp before entering the exam hall, as reported.

Meanwhile, Lucknow witnessed a massive protest over paper leaks in two recruitment exams held in UP.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited his Lok Sabha constituency, Varanasi on Friday. At the gathering PM Modi took a veiled attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his nasheri yuva in Varanasi remark, and said those who are not in their senses are seeing junkies everywhere.

Earlier Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had said in Varanasi he had observed some youth in an intoxicated state were lying on the street and dancing at night. He had commented that the future of Uttar Pradesh is intoxicated. The Prime Minister in response reiterated his parivaarvaad dig at the Congress and accused the grand old party of corruption and appeasement.

The Prime Minister threw light on his government’s contribution for farmers and the poor. He said animal husbandry is a medium to make women self reliant and a support for small and landless farmers. He remained vocal for local to advertise small artisans.

During his visit the Prime Minister also paid tribute to saint and social reformer Gadge Maharaj on his birth anniversary. The Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 80 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. The Prime Minister has won the Lok Sabha seat from this constituency in the last two general elections.

The Prime Minister added in the last elections the people of Varanasi have made him Banarasi. He hailed Sant Gadge Maharaj and credited him for freeing the society from stereotypes and working for the welfare of the Dalits and deprived.

The Prime Minister said Babasaheb BR Ambedkar was a great admirer of Gadge Baba. He added That Gadge Baba was also greatly influenced by Baba Ambedkar as well. Gadge Maharaj was a social reformer from Maharashtra. His real name was Debuji Zhingraji Janorkar. He was born in Shendgaon village in Anjangaon Suriji Taluka in Amravati district, Maharashtra.
