Air pollution has become a serious concern, especially in winters. Smog and air pollution during winters impact the overall well-being of the people. Air pollution has always been a matter of concern despite progress in recent years. It is a major concern for people who suffers from respiratory disorders like bronchitis, asthma, pneumonia, cold, lung fibrosis, cough and even cardiovascular problems.

Smog doesn’t only affect your health but steals your peace of mind as well. Smog and pollution can aggravate the health of existing lung and heart patients. It is essential to stay healthy and well-nourished during the winter season.

Smog and air pollution during the colder months can cause a number of health issues. For the uninitiated, smog is defined as hazy air that hinders breathing and invites health problems due to various pollutants such as fine particles and ground-level ozone. It forms as a result of air pollution. As a result, when toxins in the air react with direct sunlight, smog is visible in the air.

Must follow these tips to keep your lungs healthy during winters

Why Smog is Harmful?

The smog not only affects the lungs but can also give a tough time by causing chest infections, pneumonia, bronchitis, lung cancer, COPD, eye, nose and throat irritation. As a result of these diseases, there will be lung damage as well as increased morbidity and mortality. Those with pre-existing lung conditions, the elderly, pregnant women, and senior citizens are at higher risk and must take precautions.

This is a common issue that must be addressed as soon as possible. Poor air quality can have a negative impact on an individual’s overall well-being. It can cause heart and lung problems, blurry vision, tiredness, dizziness, respiratory system cell damage, decreased lung function, and a shorter life span.

Those who have pre-existing lung problems, such as asthma, which causes inflammation of the airways, may suffer during the winter season. Asthmatics tend to have worse signs or are more likely to have an asthma attack during the winter because they spend too much time indoors. Because the air outside is cold and dry, they may catch a cold or the flu.

What can you do to prevent respiratory problems during winters?

When you’re out, wear a mask or cover your face. Furthermore, avoid going out when there is smog or excessive air pollution.

Use an air purifier at home to breathe freely. You can use an air humidifier as well. Seek professional advice before making a decision.

Get vaccinated against the flu and pneumonia to keep your lungs healthy and disease-free this winter.

Drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated to keep your nasal passages clean, consider taking steam as prescribed by your doctor, and avoid trying any home remedies as they can be dangerous and worsen the issue.

Eat foods that are healthy for your lungs such as walnuts, berries, apples, beans, broccoli, kiwi, papaya, pineapple, cabbage, turmeric, green leafy vegetables, and ginger. These foods are not only healthy but will also protect you from unwanted diseases and will boost your immunity.

The closure applies to physical bank branches in the affected centres. Customers can generally continue to use digital banking channels such as mobile banking, internet banking and UPI, although specific services can depend on the bank.

Customers who need to visit a branch for cash deposits, withdrawals, account-related work or other in-person services should check the holiday status of their particular branch before visiting.

What about banks in other cities?

Banks in cities that are not covered by the September 14 regional holiday are not automatically closed because of Ganesh Chaturthi.

The bank holiday calendar is centre-specific, so customers should check their bank’s branch holiday schedule before planning a branch visit.
