Teddy Day 2025: History, significance, and how to celebrate

Happy Teddy Day: Wishes, quotes, greetings, images for WhatsApp, Instagram for your special someone

As Valentine’s Week progresses, February 10 marks the fourth day of the celebration, dedicated to the beloved “Teddy Day.” A day for expressing affection and warmth, Teddy Day is all about gifting cute and cuddly teddy bears to loved ones, creating lasting memories and strengthening bonds.

The origin of Teddy Day

The origins of Teddy Day trace back to an inspiring moment in American history. In 1902, U.S. President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt went on a hunting trip where he famously refused to shoot a defenseless bear. His act of kindness sparked the creation of the first teddy bear by a toy shop, which named it after Roosevelt himself. Since then, teddy bears have become universal symbols of love, care, and affection.

Teddy Day was later incorporated into Valentine’s Week, adding a special touch of warmth to the celebration of love. The tradition continues to spread globally, with teddy bears being gifted not only for romantic affection but also for friendship and emotional connection.

Why Teddy Day is special

Teddy bears are more than just cuddly toys; they represent unconditional love, warmth, and security—qualities that make them the perfect gift on this special day. Unlike chocolates or flowers that fade, teddy bears remain a lasting reminder of affection, cherished for years to come. On Teddy Day, gifting a teddy bear is a way of expressing love in its purest form—without words, but with tenderness.

Teddy Day quotes

To help express your love on this special day, here are some heartwarming Teddy Day quotes:

“A teddy bear’s embrace is a silent confession of love and protection. Happy Teddy Day!”

“May this Teddy Day wrap you in the softness of love and comfort that lasts forever.”

“With this teddy, I send you all the cozy cuddles we’ve shared and many more to come. Happy Teddy Day!”

“Let this teddy remind you of my hugs, each time you hold it tight. Have a joyful Teddy Day!”

“On Teddy Day, I give you this bear as a guardian of my feelings and a keeper of my heart.”

“Each thread of this teddy is sewn with wishes for your happiness and smiles. Enjoy Teddy Day!”

“Sending you a plush companion to keep you company until I can wrap you in my arms again.”

“This little teddy is not just a toy, but a token of my love that will bring you joy.”

“Embrace this teddy as you would me, with all your love and warmth. Happy Teddy Day, my dear!”

“Happy Teddy Day to someone who deserves all the cuddles they get today and every day!”

Whether you’re gifting a teddy bear to a partner, friend, or family member, Teddy Day offers an opportunity to show love and affection in a simple yet meaningful way.

As we continue through the month of love, take time to celebrate your relationships, cherish the bonds you’ve created, and of course, give a teddy bear to someone special. Why are banks closed on September 14?

September 14 marks Ganesh Chaturthi in 2026. The festival falls on Monday this year, with the date confirmed as September 14.

The banking holiday calendar uses different names for the observance across centres, including Ganesh Chaturthi, Ganesh Puja, Varasiddhi Vinayaka Vrata, Vinayakar Chathurthi and Hartalika.

The National Stock Exchange’s 2026 holiday circular also lists September 14 as a trading holiday for Ganesh Chaturthi.

Will online banking services work on September 14?

The closure applies to physical bank branches in the affected centres. Customers can generally continue to use digital banking channels such as mobile banking, internet banking and UPI, although specific services can depend on the bank.

Customers who need to visit a branch for cash deposits, withdrawals, account-related work or other in-person services should check the holiday status of their particular branch before visiting.

What about banks in other cities?

Banks in cities that are not covered by the September 14 regional holiday are not automatically closed because of Ganesh Chaturthi.

The bank holiday calendar is centre-specific, so customers should check their bank’s branch holiday schedule before planning a branch visit.
