World Wildlife Day is observed every year on March 3. Due to various human activities animal species have got endangered or are about to extinct. Here we are sharing the five endangered species with you.

World Wildlife Day is celebrated every year on March 3 since 2014 globally. This day is celebrated to raise awareness about the endangered flora and fauna. Many ecological zones are getting damaged due to human activities such as hunting, poaching, and dumping of toxins in water bodies and other places.

Here we are sharing with you the list o of those endangered species with you.

Sunda Tigers

The three subspecies of tigers are jointly known as the Sunda tigers. These species reside in the islands of Java, Bali, and Sumatra. Javan and Bali tiger species are about to extinct. Only 400 Sumatran tigers remain in the biodiversity.

Orangutan

The three species of orangutans named, Bornean, Sumatran the Tapanuli were found in 2017. They spend their lives on trees. But, they are being hunted and killed by farmers. Their habitat is loosing continuously due to the massive deforestation for palm oil cultivation.

African Forest Elephant

The smallest elephant species is known as the African forest elephant. This species is in the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and is classified in the red list. Due to the conversion of forest lands into pastures, their natural habitat is loosing.

Vaquita

Vaquita is the smallest species of all aquatic mammals. It is a porpoise or small whale, like the Dolphin. Today, about ten or few species remain in the sea. They suffered from the effects of toxic pollutants that are being dumped into waterbodies today.

Hawksbill Sea Turtle

Hawksbill turtles get their name from their special pointy, hawk-like beaks. They have a disc-shaped appearance. They are killed for meat and their shelves are used as a decorative material. Illegal pet traders stole them. Due to all such activities, their number has declined by 80 percent in the past 100 years.

Saudi Arabia is gearing up for its historic debut in the Miss Universe pageant, with Rumi Alqahtani set to represent the country in the prestigious competition. Rumi Alqahtani is a prominent runaway model and influencer from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, who has made history by becoming the first-ever Miss Universe participant to represent Saudi Arabia.

Rumi Alqahtani has garnered recognition in the beauty pageant industry through her participation in numerous global competitions, including the Miss and Mrs Global Asian competition in Malaysia. According to reports the 27 year-old model has already won the titles Miss Saudi Arabia, Miss Middle East, Miss Arab World Peace, and Miss Woman (Saudi Arabia).

Rumi Alqahtani announced Saudi Arabia’s participation in the Miss Universe 2024 pageant on her Instagram, sharing a photo of herself in a silver sequin gown, wearing a Miss Universe Saudi Arabia sash, standing next to the Saudi Arabian flag. She captioned her Instagram post that she was honoured to participate in Miss Universe competition. This is the first participation of Saudi Arabia in the Miss Universe competition.

Alqahtani’s participation follows in the footsteps of Bahrain’s Lujane Yacoub, who represented her country in the Miss Universe pageant last year. She became the first woman from the Gulf region to do so. Alqahtani’s involvement is hailed as milestone in empowering women of Saudi Arabia. She has previously represented the Kingdom in numerous international competitions, including Miss Asia in Malaysia, Miss Arab Peace, and Miss Europe.

Apart being crowned Miss Saudi Arabia, she holds titles such as Miss Middle East (Saudi Arabia), Miss Arab World Peace 2021, and Miss Woman (Saudi Arabia). This historic move reflects Saudi Arabia’s ongoing transformation under the leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.

Google Doodle on Tuesday took centre stage to honour Nowruz, the Iranian New Year. It is a vibrant festival which is steeped in over 3000 years of history. Google Doodle today features the artistic vision of Iranian guest artist Pendar Yousefi. Yousefi’s creation takes inspiration from childhood memories of Nowruz which evokes joy, togetherness and hope.

These are captured through the animal friends who have gathered together in a flower filled courtyard to ring in the coming in of spring under the blossoming tree. It captures the spirit of Nowruz through vibrant colours and intricate details, an art form which is a rich history in the region that celebrates the festival.

Nowruz literally means new day in Persian. It finds its roots in ancient Iran, then known as Persia. It is aligned with the spring equinox and marks the beginning of the New Year and the blossoming season. As trade flourished along the Silk Route, this festival spread its wings captivating countries and ethnicities across the vast network.

At the heart of Nowruz lies the cherished tradition of haft-sin. Families come together to arrange 7 symbolic items each representing a vital aspect of life and nature’s renewal. Sprouted wheat which symbolizes good fortune and rebirth takes centre stage alongside its sweet counterpart sweet pudding which signifies power and strength.

A sprig of olive represents peace and love, finds its place in the vibrant display. Berries are a symbol of sunrise and are a reminder of new beginnings, while vinegar symbolizes patience and wisdom of age. It adds a touch of tang. In terms of visibility, this doodle will be visible across various countries of the world including India. March 11, marks the day flat white was added to the Oxford English Dictionary in the year 2011. Flat white is a widely popular coffee drink of steamed milk poured over a shot of espresso is believed to have been first served in Australia and New Zealand.
