BJP national president JP Nadda released the party’s election manifesto in Jaipur on Thursday. The manifesto promised a slew of welfare measures for farmers, women, and students. The BJP president was accompanied by former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and senior leaders from the state unit during the event.

Taking a major step ahead, the Bharatiya Janata Party has promised to establish anti-romeo squads in every district of the state to ensure safety of the women. Reports said that these squads will be entrusted with patrolling public places and taking actions against eve-teasers and harassers. In addition, the party also announced an initiative to promote the well-being of daughters under the Lado Protsahan scheme. Under the aegis of this scheme, a saving bond of Rs 2 lakh will be given to every household where a daughter is born. This bond will mature when the girl reaches 18 years of age.

In its manifesto, the BJP pledged to purchase wheat from farmers at an MSP of 2800 per quintal, significantly higher than the current MSP of Rs 2015 per quintal. Furthermore, the party also promised to formulate a comprehensive compensation plan for farmers whose land has been acquired for various projects.

The BJP has also announced a Free Scooty Scheme for meritorious students for pursuing higher education. Under this scheme, scooters will be provided to deserving students to help them with their transportation needs. The saffron party has committed to form Rs 2000 crore corpus fund to promote tourism and generate employment opportunities for 5 lakh youth in the state. For Ujjwala beneficiaries, the BJP has pledged to increase the subsidy from Rs 500 to Rs 950.

Unveiling the election manifesto, JP Nadda said that the Congress party became known for five things in five years. These are corruption, the disrespect of women, and neglected farmers, he added. He further claimed that Rajasthan is the state where the rate of electricity is highest and petrol and diesel have the highest VAT. He added that the number of paper leaks that happened here has broken records. The BJP President also remarked that his party wants to form a double engine government in the state and that the manifesto would serve as the roadmap for development.

Rajasthan will hold the assembly election on November 25 to elect 200 members of the state legislative assembly. The counting of the votes will take place on December 3.

The alleged land grabbing and sexual harassment case in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal has triggered a major political battle among the ruling Trinamool Congress party and the opposition. BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday claimed that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is hiding something in the matter and is protecting Shahjahan Sheikh and his allies.

The BJP leader said that Mamata Banerjee is risking the honour of women in Bengal in order to save her political reputation. Questioning why parties like CPI(M) and Congress are  silent on the issue, Ravi Shankar Prasad said that he heard that a woman leader of CPM visited the area but has not opposed the incident or made a public comment. He remarked that Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is also silent on the issue.

Since last week, several women in the district have been protesting against TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh who is allegedly the mastermind behind the incident. Though the West Bengal police have arrested two TMC leaders, Shahjahan Sheikh is still absconding. The BJP leaders in the state claimed that the police administration has become the party office of the ruling party.

Meanwhile, State BJP president Sukanta Mazumdar on Monday, said that the party would hold a 72-hour long protest in the coming days demanding the arrest of Sheikh Shahjahan amid the turmoil in West Bengal over the Sandeshkhali violence. He added that the probable day of protest is February 22.

Slamming Mamata Banerjee for accusing BJP of instigating violence in the state, the BJP president said that the Chief Minister should be a little more sensitive towards the women in the state and refrain from making such statements. He added that the Trinamool Congress party was in a complete denial mode of any violence in the state initially.

Reportedly, West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali area has been witnessing massive unrest for more than 10 days as women protestors are seeking justice against alleged atrocities committed by TMC leader Sheikh Shajahan and his aides.
