Congress questions EC for changing time of announcing poll schedule, sees link to Modi rally

EC debunks Congress claim of 60 lakh fake voters in MP

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Congress today, (Saturday, October 6) questioned the independence of the Election Commission when the poll panel changed the timing of its press conference to announce dates for assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana.

The Election Commission had first scheduled the press conference to announce the dates at 12:30 pm. However, an hour later, the timing of the announcement was shifted to 3 pm.

The EC said this was done for the convenience of journalists so that they can reach in time and to make arrangements for the conference and take care of other logistics.

The Congress, however, alleges the decision to delay the announcement might have a link to Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s rally in Ajmer in BJP-ruled Rajasthan at 1 pm, where Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s state-wide yatra ahead of the polls will conclude.

As soon as the Election Commissioner OP Rawat announces the dates, the Model Code of Conduct will come into force, following which the state government cannot announce any new schemes.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala tweeted: “3 Facts- Draw your own conclusions. 1. ECI announces a PC at 12.30 today to announce elction dates to the 5 states. 2. PM Modi is addressing a rally in Ajmer, Rajasthan at 1 PM today. 3. ECI suddenly changes the time of announcement and PC to 3 PM. Independence of ECI?”[/vc_column_text][vc_raw_html]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[/vc_raw_html][vc_column_text]Former BJP leader and finance minister in Vajpayee government Yashwant Sinha also questioned the EC, tweeting: “Unfortunate that Election Commission postponed announcement of election dates in 5 states only to enable Modi to address his public meeting in Ajmer, Rajasthan. Very sad.”

The BJP claims PM Modi’s rally to have a turnout of three lakhs.

Ajmer district has eight assembly constituencies and seven of them are represented by BJP legislators while the Congress has one seat, Nasirabad.

Earlier this year, the BJP had lost the Ajmer Lok Sabha constituency to Congress in by-polls held after the demise of the sitting MP Sanwarlal Jat. The BJP fielded his son Ramswaroop Lamba, who lost the election.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Priyanka Gandhi asks for how long will BJP keep blaming Congress

Priyanka Gandhi today addressed public rally in Ramnagar, Uttarakhand, where she asked BJP that for how long they will keep blaming Congress

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday responded to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s frequently made accusation that nothing happened in the country during the decades the grand-old party ruled, claiming the party is being responsible despite having been out of office for the last ten years

How long will you continue blaming Congress? Priyanka said, the Congress has not been in power for the last ten years, during a public rally in Ramnagar, Uttarakhand.

She said, the BJP has had a complete majority in government for the last 10 years, but they now claim that they want 400 paar, or an even larger majority. They claim that in 75 years, nothing has changed. Priyanka said, in Uttarakhand, the home of IITs, IIMs, and AIIMS, how have these capabilities grown if nothing has changed? Was it feasible that Chandrayaan landed on the moon if Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru hadn’t constructed these? she continued.

Priyanka criticised the Modi government for abandoning youth who put in a lot of effort to enlist in the Army, using the contentious Agniveer project as an example.

The Congress leader said, in his speech, Prime Minister Modi mentioned soldiers, but who introduced the Agniveer scheme? A sense of patriotism drives thousands of young people to dedicate years of their lives to enlisting in the army. They believe that by continuing in their work, they will support both their parents and the nation. But by introducing a plan like Agniveer, Modi ji broke the dreams of the youth, she claimed.

She further claimed that PM Modi and the BJP had abandoned Devbhoomi (Uttarakhand) after the  terrible disaster.

Priyanka took aim at the Prime Minister, by saying that he believes everyone is corrupt while he is not. They have forgotten about jobs and inflation because they are too preoccupied with using the ED, CBI, and IT to win over leaders to their party and overthrow the government. The question of accepting donations and conducting business came to light once the electoral bond was disclosed, she added.

Earlier this month, the Congress party presented its Nyay Patra, or Lok Sabha election manifesto. Among other things, it calls for a minimum support price (MSP) for farmers crops.
