Mayawati says BSP MLAs will vote for BJP to defeat SP in MLC poll
Speaking to ANI, Mayawati said the behavior of the SP was not good during 2019 Lok Sabha election. The BSP worked very hard from Day 1 of the coalition while Akhilesh Yadav kept telling SC Mishra to take back the case, she said.
Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Thursday announced that her party will rather vote for candidates of the BJP or any other party to ensure the defeat of Samajwadi Party aspirants in elections to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council due to be held soon. She said any candidate from any party, who will be dominant over the SP’s candidate, will get BSP MLAs support.
For the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BSP and the SP had contested together as the Mahagathbandhan against the BJP. Calling it one of the biggest mistakes of her life, the BSP leader said it was a mistake to withdraw the 1995 case against the Samajwadi Party in the interests of the alliance. On the request of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, the BSP withdrew the infamous state guesthouse case against Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Uttar Pradesh has 80 Lok Sabha seats. The alliance of Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party had decided to contest on 38 seats each. They also did not put up a candidate against then Congress president Rahul Gandhi in Amethi and his mother Sonia Gandhi in Rae Bareli. Rahul Gandhi lost from Amethi to Smriti Irani of the BJP in the 2019 election. He continues to be a Lok Sabha MP since he won from Wayanad in Kerala.
In Uttar Pradesh, the BSP had won 10 seats of the 38 it contested and the SP registered victory in 5 seats. A month after the results, Mayawati announced the breaking of the alliance.

Reacting to Mayawati’s comments, Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said the SP is supporting the RJD in Bihar and urged her to convince her supporters to vote for the BJP to defeat the SP.

Punjab: Farmer’s rail roko protest enters 3rd day, disrupts train services

Sankalp Saptaah: PM Modi today launches week-long initiative for aspirational blocks at Bharat Mandapam
The country’s Sankalp Saptah programme, which is being implemented in 500 aspirational blocks throughout 329 districts, seeks to increase block-level government while also improving civilian quality of life.
At Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced a week-long project named Sankalp Saptaah for the country’s aspirational groups.

The week-long programme, which is described in an official news release, is closely correlated with the national Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP), which Modi introduced in January of this year.

He asserted that the quality of living had changed. Now, the aspirational blocks programme will be built on the success of the aspirational districts programme, he said.
According to the statement, about 3,000 panchayat and block level functionaries and representatives of the people are expected to attend the inaugural event at Bharat Mandapam, in addition to about two lakh farmers, block and panchayat level functionaries, and people from other walks of life who will participate virtually.
Starting on October 3 and running through October 9, each day of Sankalp Saptaah is devoted to a distinct development subject on which all aspirational blocks will focus. Sampoorna Swasthya, Suposhit Pariwaar, Swachhta, Krishi, Shiksha, and Samridhi Diwas are some of the themes for the first six days, according to the statement.
