Defence Minister Rajnath Singh appeals opposition parties to re-think their Parliament inaugural boycott decision
Singh while speaking to media said no politics should be done on the new Parliament building inauguration as it is a symbol of the Democracy and an aspiration of the people of this country.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday, has appealed the opposition parties to re-think on their proposed decision to boycott the inauguration event of newly constructed Parliament building by PM Modi on Sunday.
Singh while speaking to media said no politics should be done on the new Parliament building inauguration as it is a symbol of the Democracy and an aspiration of the people of this country.
Singh further urged the opposition parties to give a second thought on their decision of boycotting the inaugural event of the new Parliament building.
The newly built Parliament building is all set to be inaugurated by PM Modi on May 28, a decision that has stirred a political uproar between opposition and the BJP-led Centre.
On Wednesday, a total of 19 like-minded opposition parties expressed their wish to boycott the new Parliament building inauguration ceremony.
The list of opposition parties to avoid the event include Congress, Samajwadi Party, Aam Aadmi Party, Nationalist Congress Chief, Shiv Sena (UBT), Janata Dal (United), Trinamool Congress, DMK and many others.
The parties released a joint statement mentioning that the decision of the inauguration by PM Modi is an insult to the constitution and democracy and alleged that it is a move taken to sideline the President.
Several opposition parties who have distanced themselves from joining the group and have announced their decision to attend the event are Odisha’s Biju Janata Dal, Andhra Pradesh’s YSRCP and TDP, former PM HD Devegowda’s Janata Dal (Secular) and Mayawati’s BSP.
Yesterday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also made an appeal to the opposition parties to change their stand and re-think about their decision to boycott the inaugural event.
On May 18, Lok Sabha Secretariat informed about Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had sent an invitation to PM Modi to inaugurate the newly built Parliament.

BJP’s Bihar unit chief Samrat Chaudhary was addressing a public rally in Bihar’s Araria district when he compared Congress leader Rahul Gandhi with slain terrorist former Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden and said Rahul Gandhi cannot become the Prime Minister of the India just by growing a beard.
Choudhary’s comments came months after former Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during his Bharat Jodo Yatra sported a beard. The BJP leader also slammed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar that he is going around the country telling everyone that he is the Prime Minister of the country. He said Kumar has lost his mental balance.
He commented on the opposition’s inability to select a Prime Ministerial candidate for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. He said kumar’s mental state resembled the character of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan in the film Ghajini. A meting of opposition parties is going to take place in Patna to chalk out a strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and fight united against the BJP.
A range of senior opposition leaders like Sharad Pawar, Mallikarjun Kharge, Mamata Banerjee, Rahul Gandhi and others are going to be a part of the meeting.
Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma had made similar comments on Rahul Gandhi’s look. He had made a comparison of Gandhi with Saddam Hussein and advised him to shave his beard so that he could look like former Indian PM Jawaharlal Nehru. Meanwhile Choudhary said, if BJP government is formed in Bihar action will be taken against those involved in cow slaughter. Continuing on his remarks on Gandhi Choudhary said Gandhi is a child and even questioned his political acumen.
He said although Rahul is 50 years old he lacks the political intelligence comparing him with a child having intellectual capacity of a child. Choudhary even addressed the issue of love Jihad. He said, if BJP government comes to power in Bihar, love jihadists will be identified and prosecuted.
He said, the BJP stressed on identifying and deporting Bangladeshi infiltrators from across the border.

Ajit Pawar who was seen visibly upset with the announcement, is currently the leader of opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly. In 2019, Ajit Pawar associated with the BJP and took oath as Deputy Chief Minister with Devendra Fadnavis as the Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, Praful Patel who is surprised by the decision expressed that he will continue to work hard for the party and will ensure to increase the footprint of the party. He further added that he have been working with Pawar since 1999. As per reports, Praful Patel was also made NCP’s in-charge of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Goa and Rajya Sabha while Supriya Sule was made NCP’s in-charge in Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab and issues pertaining to women, youth, students and Lok Sabha.
Supriya Sule also expressed gratitude to NCP chief Sharad Pawar, senior leaders, party workers, party colleagues and other well-wishers of the Nationalist Congress Party for bestowing this responsibility of working president along with Praful Patel.
