[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]As voting for Phase 4 of the Lok Sabha 2019 elections to elect representatives on 72 seats takes off on April 29, APN’s popular debate Mudda discussed the issues that will be decisive. Anchorperson Vandana posed the questions to panellists, including the Congress’s Ajay Arora, BJP’s Anita Aggarwal, SP’s Vinay Kumar Singh and APN consultant Govind Pant Raju.
Aggarwal said: “The BJP is on a strong wicket. People believe in the BJP and trust Modi. We have worked for the people. In UP, we are going to sweep the polls because the youth and the old are wholly with us. People are feeling very secure with the BJP. This will make the difference.”
Arora said: “Anitaji said youth vote will be decisive. I agree with her. Employment figures have nosedived, and the youth are unhappy. The PM himself is feeling insecure.”
Aggarwal said: “PM Modi has been holding rallies throughout the country, he is talking about the work done to the people.”
Arora said: “Look at the ground reality. People are not voting for the PM, they need to see the work done.”
Singh said: “It is not like a magician carrying a magic wand. A new movement has already taken birth, to get rid of the jumlas and the fraudsters. How is the country safer now?”
Raju said: “The Congress, the BJP and the oppositio—all have sent their message across through various media. People don’t want to hear the same thing again and again, which is why petty issues get thrown up. Since the election process is dragged over a long time, small issues get blown out of proportion.”
Singh said: “Our gathbandhan is with the people, with the marginalised sections, with the unemployed. The BJP came to power in UP because it had succeeded in driving a wedge by its false claims. We have a gathbandhan of like-minded parties. It is the BJP that is feeling insecure.”
Arora said: “PM Modi is capable of driving the car in any willful direction. Look at the Rafale scam, the biggest-ever in recent times. How can we trust him?”
Aggarwal said: “We have put people’s money back for the people, where they want to see it.”
Vandana asked Raju where is the Congress’ promised brahmastra?
Raju said: “In UP, Congress has nothing to lose. Even if they get 1-2 seats, it will be a gain for the Congress. The seat arrangements have been such that it looks like some gainful alliances might emerge even after the polls. Priyanka Gandhi is on a tried and tested turf. Will Priyanka victory affect family politics, as it is being conjectured? We can’t say. It needs to be seen how she deals with the grassroots workers. She has been sticking to the official Congress and Rahul Gandhi line, and she has offered nothing new so far. So can’t expect miracles from Priyanka.”
Aggarwal said: “Look at the development in the villages—education, health, electricity, or even cleaning of Ganga — all are big achievements of the BJP. At one time it was only Indira Gandhi, then Sonia Gandhi and now Priyanka Gandhi. The fact is the people are not so silly and they want to look beyond such family glorification.”
Singh said: “What about the wasting of public money in Kumbh?”
Raju said: “In the final phase, the situation will become clearer. Dedicated voters are coming out, and it doesn’t look like an anti-incumbency vote so far.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
