IPL 2022

The Royal Challengers Bangalore kept their hopes of qualifying for the IPL 2022 playoffs alive after 8-wicket win over Gujarat Titans (GT) on Thursday against Gujarat Titans at Mumbai Wankhede Stadium.

After registering victory over the table topper Gujarat Titans in a must win game, the RCB moved to number 4 in the IPL 2022 pointstable with 16 points. Following this crucial win, their chances of finishing in top 4 have jumped to 100% but still they are more dependent on CSK’s win over Delhi capitals and Rajasthan Royals. It would leave it tied for third at 16 points with RR.

If the Delhi Capitals wins against Mumbai Indians and RR loses to CSK then RCB will miss the bus to IPL Playoffs due to their poor Net Run Rate. For RCB to qualify for IPL 2022 playoffs they need RR to lose to CSK by a huge margin.

Currently, both the Capitals and the Royals have better NRR than RCB and if DC and RR win their respective matches, RCB will be knocked out of IPL 2022.

The playoffs equation is pretty simple for Delhi Capitals. A victory over Mumbai Indians will take them into the playoffs and a defeat will be the end of their journey this season.

The SRH looked good in the start of this season but their inconsistency cost them big time while Punjab Kings never really looked the part for the better part of the season.

To cut a long story short, the RCB will spend a sleepless night and root for Mumbai Indians to defeat Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday.

The out of form Virat Kohli, who himself had accepted that he is going through evolution phase, was the man of the match scoring 73 runs in 53 balls. His statement about his dip in IPL form comes few hours the start of the game against Gujarat Titans in which the Kohli starred RCB has chased down a stiff 169-run target 8 balls before the end of the game.

Batting first after winning the toss, the Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya played a captain’s knock of 62* and with contributions from David Miller (34) and Rashid Khan (19*) took the final score for the Gujarat Titans to 168/5 in 20 overs.

Since yesterday, Virat Kohli was sledging Bairstow to break his concentration. However, things turned ugly when Jonny replied to the former Indian skipper and Kohli being Kohli, he didn’t hold back and said, “Shut up, go stand there and bat.”

Later after the over got over, Umpire and England captain Ben Stokes intervened and asked Virat Kohli about what went wrong. Virat Kohli was seen explaining himself to the umpire and later even was seen sharing a light moment with Ben Stokes. Virat Kohli even passed by Jonny Bairstow and tapped his shoulder.
