Senior Indian opener KL Rahul has tested positive for Covid-19. And it was the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly who informed about KL’s Covid infection after the Board’s Apex Council meeting in Mumbai. However, the board has not yet put this out on their social networking sites.

KL Rahul underwent a surgery recently in Germany and the 30 years old had even resumed his training at the NCA in Bengaluru. Rahul was also named in the T20I squad for the West Indies tour which starts from July 29. However, now his participation in the three-match series seems unlikely.

KL was gaining his fitness back after a break from cricket and had even given the update through his Instagram. But that that he’s tested positive for Covid-19, it’s unclear whether he’ll travel to the West Indies or not. The T20I series will be played at in Tadouba.

And it seems like KL’s torrid run is not ending anytime soon. For the unversed, the 30-years-old was supposed to lead men in blue in the T20I series against South Africa in June, but he was ruled out due to a groin injury. Later the Indian opener went to Germany for his surgery and returned to India for recovery. And now when all seemed fine, the Indian cricketer tested positive for Covid-19.

Rahul’s name was in for the upcoming five-match T20I series against West Indies. However, it was made clear that KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav will only travel to the Caribbean islands only if they cleared the fitness tests.

KL Rahul has been one of India’s prolific scorers in T20s and it was expected that the Indian opener would gain his firm back in West Indies so that he has ample time to prep for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022.

The Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant reached an incredible milestone on Friday as he became the third-youngest player to reach 3,000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In his team’s second win of the year over the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the left-hander smashed an incredible 41 runs off of 24 balls. The 2020 runners-up also moved up from the bottom of the rankings to the ninth slot with this win.

With the final delivery of the 12th over, Pant reached the milestone when he hit Marcus Stoinis for a four. He showcased an impressive range of shots, such as his leg play and scoops over third man. After Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill, the skipper of DC was the third-youngest player to surpass 30,000 runs.

Surprisingly, among the 25 batters who have scored more than 3,000 runs, he has the third-highest strike rate (148.4), just behind AB De Villiers (151.68) and Chris Gayle (148.96).

After Kuldeep Yadav returned, the DC bowlers did a fantastic job of destroying the LSG batting lineup at 94/7 with three wickets taken. But teenager Ayush Badoni’s bravery, who scored 55 off 35 deliveries, helped the Super Giants put up a respectable 167/7 total on the board.

The DC batters took over at that point and led this run-chase without any problem. In the seventh over, having lost both of their openers at 63 runs, debutant Jake Fraser-McGurk teamed up with Rishabh Pant to register his first-ever IPL half-century. Fraser-McGurk hit 4 fours and 5 sixes in his 55 runs for 35 balls. Meanwhile, KL Rahul stumped Rishabh Pant off a delivery from Ravi Bishnoi as he was very close to his half-century at 41.

However, the duo had contributed to making sure DC would easily meet the target; they also became the first team to beat Lucknow this year by successfully chasing a total of more than 160 runs.
