Senior Indian opener KL Rahul has tested positive for Covid-19. And it was the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly who informed about KL’s Covid infection after the Board’s Apex Council meeting in Mumbai. However, the board has not yet put this out on their social networking sites.
KL Rahul underwent a surgery recently in Germany and the 30 years old had even resumed his training at the NCA in Bengaluru. Rahul was also named in the T20I squad for the West Indies tour which starts from July 29. However, now his participation in the three-match series seems unlikely.
KL was gaining his fitness back after a break from cricket and had even given the update through his Instagram. But that that he’s tested positive for Covid-19, it’s unclear whether he’ll travel to the West Indies or not. The T20I series will be played at in Tadouba.

And it seems like KL’s torrid run is not ending anytime soon. For the unversed, the 30-years-old was supposed to lead men in blue in the T20I series against South Africa in June, but he was ruled out due to a groin injury. Later the Indian opener went to Germany for his surgery and returned to India for recovery. And now when all seemed fine, the Indian cricketer tested positive for Covid-19.
Rahul’s name was in for the upcoming five-match T20I series against West Indies. However, it was made clear that KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav will only travel to the Caribbean islands only if they cleared the fitness tests.
KL Rahul has been one of India’s prolific scorers in T20s and it was expected that the Indian opener would gain his firm back in West Indies so that he has ample time to prep for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022.
