Neeraj Chopra creates history at World Athletics Championship 2022, grabs silver medal in Oregon

Neeraj Chopra scripted history once again by winning a silver medal in the men’s javelin throw at the World Athletics Championships 2022. This year, it is the 18th edition of the World Athletics Championships. The sports event is currently being held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, US.
The 24-year-old grabbed the second spot with a best throw of 88.13m on his fourth attempt. Neeraj is the second Indian, after former long jumper Anju Bobby George (2003), to secure a position on a podium at the World Athletics Championships. He broke the 29-year-long wait for a medal at the sports event.
PM Modi congratulated the Tokyo Olympic gold medallist on his Twitter account. The tweet read, A great accomplishment by one of our most distinguished athletes! Congratulations to Neeraj Chopra on winning a historic Silver medal at the World Championships. This is a special moment for Indian sports. Best wishes to Neeraj for his upcoming endeavours.
On asked if he felt any pressure for winning a medal at the World Athletics Championships because he is already an Olympic gold medallist, he said he didn’t feel pressured by the fact that he is an Olympic champion. He further said he believed in himself even after the third throw. I made a comeback and won silver, it felt good. I would try to change the colour of the medal next time, he added.
Neeraj Chopra after winning a silver medal said, While conditions were not good and the wind speed was too high, I was confident I would perform well. I am satisfied with the result, I am happy I was able to win a medal for my country, he added.

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma launch a non-profit initiative SeVVA for social good, humanity
In a joint statement, the Indian cricketer and Bollywood actor said that it is a non-profit initiative and is meant to help people in need.

Celebrity couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma announced on March 22 that they are merging their respective foundations- The Virat Kohli Foundation and The Anushka Sharma Foundation, and launching a new initiative called SeVVA.
In a joint statement, the Indian cricketer and Bollywood actor said that it is a non-profit initiative and is meant to help people in need. SeVVA will not be confined to any particular cause. The couple said the organisation will continue to strive for social good by championing humanity which is the need of the hour today.
They said, in the words of Kahlil Gibran, ‘For in truth, it is a life that gives unto life- while you, who deem yourself a giver, are but a witness’ and with this sentiment in mind, they have decided to work together aiming to reach out to as many people as possible, through SeVVA.

The cricketer will continue to provide scholarships in the field of sports and also sponsor aspiring athletes. Anushka will also continue to work for animal welfare as she has been doing for many years. SeVVA will be working to locate and assist in areas of concern that benefit society as a whole.
The couple got married in December 2017 in Tuscany and is known as one of the strongest and most loved couples in the industry. They are one of the most influential couples as well, featuring together in many ads. The duo is known for their heart-warming love for each other and for living a very fulfilling yet simple life.
Kohli and Sharma welcomed their daughter Vamika in 2021 and the actor has been on a break from acting since then. She will be seen in the sports drama based on Indian pace bowler Jhulan Goswami, titled Chakda Xpress.

The Blues skipper, Rohit Sharma, made a return to the national squad in the second ODI against Australia in Visakhapatnam on Sunday after missing the first ODI in the tri-series owing to family-related commitments. In the skipper’s absence, Hardik Pandya was entrusted to lead the team against the Aussies.
India’s opener joined back with his team after arriving in India’s Vizag. However, the skipper met with his fans at the airport and had an hilarious exchange with one of the fans who was waiting for him.
In the video, Rohit along with his teammates can be seen coming out of the airport where a fan can be seen recording a selfie video. Rohit, who can be seen bolting through the crowd of fans, can be seen offering a flower to the fan recording the video.

One user wrote and said that the Indian skipper just wanted to throw the rose away, however, as he couldn’t find any dustbin, he offered the rose to one of the fans.

The Indian team has suffered a setback before the series of three ODIs to be played between India and Australia. If the report is to be believed, Shreyas Iyer will not be a part of the ODI series against Australia. The BCCI issued a statement on Monday saying that the medical team is monitoring Shreyas’s injury.
If Shreyas is ruled out of the ODI series against Australia, then Rajat Patidar or Rahul Tripathi will be included in the team, or BCCI could opt for Sanju Samson.
If media reports are to be believed, on the other hand, the way Axar Patel got a chance in place of Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel also capitalized on that opportunity. Similarly, in place of Shreyas Iyer batsman Sanju Samson might come to the fore.
For the unversed, Iyer complaint of back injury ahead of the Ahmedabad Test day 3. The batsman could not even run properly hence, Team India was one batsman short during the first innings.

On the other hand, Sanju Samson ODI Carrier includes 330 runs in 10 innings of 11 matches, including two half-centuries. Moreover, in the absence of Rohit Sharma in the first match of the ODI series, Hardik Pandya will take over the responsibility of captaincy only in the first ODI against Australia.
India won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test Series by 2-1 and lifted the trophy. Men In Blue have also qualified for the World Test Championship’s final. Now in the absence of Rohit Sharma, in the first ODI, Hardik Pandya would like to start the ODI series with a win for the Indian team under his captaincy.
