The best Indian opener Virendra Sehwag recently opened up about his test career. Sehwag revealed that there was a time when he was out-of-favour from the selectors. Later the Delhi batter was even dropped during 2007. Being famous for comebacks, Virendra Sehwag made a comeback in 2007-2008, during the India-Australia series. But lately Sehwag revealed how then skipper Anil Kumble helped him revive his career.

This is the time when Sehwag realised that suddenly he was not a part of the Indian Test team. Hence, he did not feature in the first two Test matches. Both the games were lost by India too. Moreover, to everyone’s surprise, making a comeback in the third game in Perth, India went on to register a remarkable win.

Talking about the same, Sehwag revealed that ahead of the game, skipper Anil Kumble said, “Score a 50 in this warm-up match, and you will be picked for the match in Perth.” Scoring a ton before lunch, Virendra Sehwag played in Perth, giving a good to Indian score board in both innings, and he also took two wickets.

After the Australian tour, then skipper Anil Kumble promised Sehwag, “As long as I am the Test team captain, you will not be dropped from the side.” Sehwag went ahead and said that this is what a player yearns for the most, that he could earn the confidence of his captain, through his performance. “I got that from Sourav Ganguly in my initial years and from Anil Kumble later,” said Sehwag.

Virendra Sehwag featured in seven Tests under Kumble’s captaincy. He even registered his best scores like 201 not out against Sri Lanka and 319 against South Africa, under Anil Kumble’s leadership. Sehwag’s best test bowling figures of 5/10 was during Anil Kumble’s last Test match as a captain and player both.

Khurram Manzoor takes U-turn on Virat Kohli's ODI ranking statement, says his statement was misinterpreted

Recently, while talking on Nadir Ali’s YouTube channel, Pakistani batsman Khurram Manzoor had made a shocking statement on Virat Kohli. But after much backlash, now the batsman has taken a U-turn from his statement and is saying that the media outlets have manipulated his statement.

Manzoor had said that he is the number one batsman in the list of top 10 batsmen in the world in the ODI format. And after him comes the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli. He also added that Kohli takes 6 innings to score a century or a half-century in the sixth innings. But after being trolled on social media, now the Pakistani batsman has reversed his statement and said that the things said by him were put in a wrong way.

Khurram Manzoor has played 16 Tests, 7 ODIs and 3 T20 matches for Pakistan. While clarifying his statement, the batter reiterated his point by sharing a post on social media. He wrote that it is strange that some media outlets and individuals have taken his interview out of context and twisted his words. Virat Kohli is a generational player and he has always admired him as the best. “I talked about this statistic about the best innings in List A cricket. In per hundred ratio where I am on top and Kohli is on second place. There is no comparison between me and him, he has played more matches and that too mostly at international level,” said Manzoor.

Keeping his point forward, the Pakistani batsman wrote, ‘He is the best regardless of this state. I would like to suggest all these media outlets to show some responsibility before publishing any article or news. Thank you!”

For the unversed, this 36-year-old Pakistani batsman has done amazing batting in domestic cricket but his selection has not been done continuously in the Pakistani team. In such a situation, the former cricketer said that the Pakistani board has ignored him, which is shocking for sure as he has also scored 24 hundreds in the last 48 innings. And is still the leading run scorer among all who have opened for Pakistan since 2015. “I have been the top scorer in National T20 and have also hit a century, yet I am neglected. I have 8-9 records, especially in List A cricket,” said Khurram Manzoor.
