Among the many genres that exist in the video game industry, horror games are perhaps the most popular because they generate a lot of adrenaline, and honestly, who doesn’t like to feel scared, it is to some extent addictive.

There are games that seriously could be classified as insomnia-provoking and even heart attacks due to the amount of terror they handle. Fans of this genre have them as favorites and have had reeditions because of how good they are.

Enter here to know the best PUBG outfits. On this page, you can find that and more to make your experience much more enjoyable and interesting. You can also find the best tips and advice for you to improve your level.

These are the best horror video game sagas in history.

Death Space

A futuristic horror game, this already starts off pretty well. The objective of the game is to take minerals because in this future of the year 2508, humans are looking for resources on other planets and obviously there are enemies.

The setting in space makes it much darker and as it is an unknown element you don’t know what to expect. The monsters are quite scary and the sounds they make get into your bones and there are too many jumps because they come out of unexpected places. The emptiness of space makes it even more terrifying.

This game was released on October 14, 2008, for all consoles, and has had several sequels, because it has been quite successful. It has inspired more space based games, and its premise was quite innovative, as this was only seen in movies like Alien. Sure to keep you on the edge of your seat

Outlast

This game is inside an insane asylum, and this time you are a reporter who has to enter this institution and investigate some illegal experiments, apart from entering at night and the perspective is in first person, then you can imagine the things you get to see.

This game came out in 2013 and is inspired by the famous MKULTRA experiment of the U.S. government of mind control. As the game is at night and you go with a video camera you see absolutely nothing, and obviously, if something comes out you have to run at full speed to avoid the horrors you are seeing do not reach you, then even messes with your physique, because you end up dizzy.

They have sold more than 15 million copies and the saga is composed of two games and the third one is being prepared, and it would give closure to this successful series that they say could become a series or a film. It is a great success considering that only one and a half million dollars were invested in the design and realization of the game.

Fatal Frame

It came out in 2001 and has produced about 13 games, but only 5 continue with the story, the spinoffs have also been very successful, and like Outlast, it is already being considered for the big screen.

It’s based on various Japanese superstitions, so they combine people’s many fears and materialize them. That’s obviously appealing because it makes you very curious to know what happens or what it’s about.

Outside of Japan, it was very successful and that’s the beauty of its success. Because the design and the gameplay is so good that, even if you don’t know the legend, you die of fear and you can’t stop playing. In Japan, it has a rating of +18 because of the graphic scenes.

Silent Hill

This saga is already considered one of the best in the history of video games, its success has been so great that it has been taken to the big screen. This game is considered one of those that laid the foundations of the horror genre in video games.

The first game was released in 1999 and when it came out it was not expected to be so successful. Its graphics and gameplay were praised, but what blew everyone’s mind was the atmosphere, the fog became a very important element that gave it that element of mystery.

There are many references to the king of horror Stephen King, the creators have mentioned that the author is part of their influences and that the game is based entirely on the books of the American writer who in turn is a fan of the games and appreciates the tribute.

In terms of sales, it is one of the most successful games in history. They have completed more than 9 million sales, and the games have been re-released several times. The first one, which is a classic, is a reference, but the second part is considered the best horror game in history. Horror was undoubtedly redefined with Silent Hill.

Resident Evil

The original seed. The game came out in 1996 and the game has sequels, movies, comics, series, and everything that fans can imagine because this is undoubtedly the most successful horror franchise in history. It has been studied even in college classes, for its design and gameplay.

It was reported in 2021 that it has sold more than 120 million copies worldwide, only the first two, at launch, sold about 11 million. Immediately it was a strong blow, and Capcom did not expect it, in fact, it almost did not come out, because several of the directors never ended up liking it, it’s a good thing they were convinced.

Many analysts in the world of video games, not only have it as the best horror game but as one of the most influential in history. It was one of the first to receive the adults-only rating and this helped sales a lot because people wanted to know what was going on.

This game has influenced even outside the gamer world. The Walking Dead is based on Resident Evil, and this was confirmed by the creator of the successful series, Robert Kirkman. Capcom can’t get enough and year after year they remake and improve the original games, and plan new ones, it seems that Resident Evil will never end, because the games get better and better.

An image of the DeepSeek AI lab showcasing technological advancements

China’s AI research landscape witnessed a significant breakthrough with the unveiling of DeepSeek-R1, an open-source AI model from DeepSeek, a pioneering lab established by Chinese entrepreneur Liang Wenfeng. Positioned as a challenger to global AI leaders like OpenAI, DeepSeek-R1 excels in mathematical reasoning, code generation, and cost efficiency, marking a pivotal shift in the field.

What is DeepSeek?

DeepSeek emerged from Fire-Flyer, the deep-learning division of High-Flyer, a Chinese quantitative hedge fund. Founded in 2015, High-Flyer built its reputation by leveraging AI in financial analytics. In 2023, Liang Wenfeng, High-Flyer’s founder, redirected resources to create DeepSeek, focusing on advancing AI research.

Operating independently from Chinese tech giants like Baidu and Alibaba, DeepSeek prioritizes scientific exploration over immediate profits. Liang noted, “Basic science research rarely offers high returns on investment,” reflecting his commitment to long-term innovation.

DeepSeek-R1: Redefining AI efficiency

DeepSeek-R1, the lab’s flagship model, demonstrates robust reasoning abilities, surpassing several industry benchmarks. Unlike traditional models relying on supervised fine-tuning, DeepSeek-R1-Zero utilized reinforcement learning (RL) for training. The refined DeepSeek-R1 version enhances readability and language consistency, matching OpenAI’s cutting-edge performance in reasoning tasks.

Key innovations, such as multi-head latent attention (MLA) and a mix-of-experts approach, allow DeepSeek-R1 to operate with just a fraction of the computing power needed for comparable models. For instance, its computational needs are reportedly one-tenth of Meta’s Llama 3.1, a breakthrough highlighted by industry analysts.

A new wave of talent

DeepSeek’s team comprises fresh graduates from leading Chinese institutions like Tsinghua and Peking University. Despite limited industry experience, these researchers bring academic rigor and a collaborative spirit to tackle complex AI challenges. Their collective goal is to overcome technological barriers and elevate China’s global AI standing.

Navigating US restrictions

DeepSeek’s advancements come amid U.S. export restrictions on advanced AI chips. The 2022 embargo limited Chinese firms’ access to hardware like Nvidia’s H100 chips, crucial for AI development. Although DeepSeek started with a stockpile of 10,000 H100s, the restrictions pushed the lab to rethink AI architecture and optimize resource efficiency.

Innovative strategies behind DeepSeek

Faced with hardware limitations, DeepSeek adopted efficiency-focused strategies to refine its model architecture:

  • Custom communication schemes: Streamlined data exchanges to reduce memory use.
  • Memory optimization: Minimized field sizes for enhanced efficiency.
  • Mix-of-models approach: Combined smaller models for superior results.

These techniques have set DeepSeek apart as a leader in resource-efficient AI research.

Global impact through open sourcing

DeepSeek’s decision to open-source its models under an MIT license signals a democratization of AI research. By providing access to its advanced models and training techniques, the lab invites global developers to refine and expand its technology. This move not only challenges Western AI dominance but also reinforces DeepSeek’s position as a forward-thinking pioneer in the field.

As DeepSeek continues to push boundaries, it symbolizes a new era of Chinese innovation, blending efficiency with open collaboration to reshape the global AI landscape.
