Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s frequent visits nowadays to Uttar Pradesh, the politically crucial state for 2024, are a clearer indication that the BJP is looking to cover maximum ground and is leaving no stone unturned, or even untouched, in reaching out to every voter before next year’s Assembly elections.
In this sequence, PM Modi, who has already visited UP some 10 times just in December to inaugurate multiple projects, on Tuesday visited the city of the Sangam and addressed an Uttar Pradesh government function attended by over two lakh women.
The BJP is looking at Prayagraj as the gateway to Purvanchal where Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party have a strong base. The Congress, led by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, has also been active in the area with its women-focused campaign.
At the event, PM Modi has not only showcased his government’s contributions to women’s welfare but also defended his government’s big plan to raise the age of marriage for women. Taking a swipe at his rivals, PM Modi said goons used to rule UP streets and but now Yogi Adityanath has shown them their rightful place.
During his earlier visits, PM Modi had launched gigantic infrastructure projects, including the mega redevelopment project to rejuvenate the Kashi Vishwanath temple complex in his Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency just this week.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, who is emerging as the strong contender for the ruling BJP in Uttar Pradesh, reminded Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of his statement of running bulldozers over properties of criminals in Uttar Pradesh.
Taunting the CM, Yadav tweeted that the Chief Minister’s most favourite thing is bulldozer and he should let us know when he would take his favourite bulldozer to Lakhimpur, referring to Union MoS Ajay Mishra Teni.
Yadav reiterated that the Income Tax raids on his aide and other party leaders were politically driven.
Speaking in Mainpuri, Yadav slammed the BJP saying it has cheated the people of Uttar Pradesh for the past five years. There has been a significant rise in crime against women in the state, he said.
Mulayam Singh Yadav-Mohan Bhagwat’s viral picture creates buzz, Congress says S in SP stands for Sanghwad

As expected, the photo is now viral, making the two the most unlikely twosome to ever get viral.
Again a picture speaks more than a thousand words and the photo ended up with a lot of chin wagging. The Uttar Pradesh Congress tweeted the picture alleging the S in the “new” SP stands for Sanghawad while BJP Uttar Pradesh said the picture says a lot on its Twitter handle.
The Samajwadi Party, which enjoys strong support among Muslims in Uttar Pradesh, has often accused parties like the Mayawati-led BSP and Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM of being the BJP’s B-team. Now, the ball’s landed in their court for a smash!
Congress vs BJP on lynching and its many origins
BJP leaders set about justifying the word “lynching” with comparisons to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots (what else) in reply to former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi’s statement that lynching was almost unheard of before 2014.
Some even said former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi the father of mob lynching.
Rahul Gandhi’s remarks come amid the recent lynching in Congress-ruled Punjab over alleged sacrilege. The Congress has urged the Centre to get President Ram Nath Kovind’s nod on two Bills for stringent punishment for sacrilege cases in Punjab.
